It exposes the problem with VAR yet again. For decades football has had a ruleset that doesn't really work if applied 100% strictly, but has been made to work in part because of the application of common sense by referees to avoid the game being a farce. As the cliché goes, you could give 10 penalties a game if you wanted to, but referees generally avoid doing so, and deliberately set the bar high for a foul in the area for the sake of keeping the game pure. But VAR has been implemented in the game without enough care for this long-established nuance, and is sometimes used to pore over incidents in detail using the strictest application of the laws and then make huge game-changing judgements. Not that I'm complaining in this instance.
Think we only have these discussions cos were English and like fair play Rest of the world wouldn’t be interested Thus proving our superiority as the greatest nation on earth
I didn't watch the game in real time, but watched the full game this morning. I thought we played really well, particularly in the first half. Many good performances, but Foden just gets better. He has been so unlucky with near misses or offside goals, I can see him having a game whereby things fall for him, let's hope that is the Spain game.
it's good that it wasn't a spain v holland final. there was such a final in the world cup. it was disgusting and should have been stopped when more deserved red cards had been issued. it still puzzles me that more red cards were not issued.
Didn’t see a slice of any pie never mind humble Three of the ugliest men on media platforms or whatever the **** they do….
Two words. Howard Webb Holland/The Netherlands whatever you want to call them went with a clear plan to kick Spain off the park, although I do think it would have been different and a much better spectacle this time
I think it actually goes a step further and the majority if not all other nations would be celebrating and laughing
