I'm nowhere as glamorous as a lot of you chaps, just having a few days in Scotland on the new toy. Done lots of trips with mates but this one is different, it's a solo trip - I wanted to do one before I get too old, choose my own route, make my own mistakes, stop when I want. So here I am! PS the 300 miles ride yesterday was absolutely Baltic - some days heated grips just don't cut it.

How come the passengers start appearing on the platform just as the train doors open? Is there a barrier or something?
Yeah.
There’s barriers and behind the barriers there will be spot on the floor or similar for people to queue up on, and they do.

Seem to recall a train on the platform to the right, out of shot, had pulled in and some getting off that were transferring to the train that was on the platform. More Yamanote line vid.....

Its a place called Millearne, Ric - about 6 miles south of Crieff, nice studio/loft that's ideal for a couple or a 'Billy no mates'. The place is the definition of peaceful.
Ric - I did A1 to Scotch Corner then A66 towards Carlisle, playtime roads for almost 90 miles over Hartside Pass then picked up M74/73 etc to ger here.

I've been to Crieff Highland Games a couple of times and Gleneagles golf course(not to play),great day out
Are you going up further(A9)? Lovely scenery North of Perth heading for Inverness, up through Pitlochry which is a beautiful little village and very popular with tourists.If you do stop off there,it's worth visiting the hydro electric dam on loch Faskally which features the famous fish ladder,the salmon will be running up at this time of year
Anyway,wherever you go enjoy yourself,brilliant stuff !!
Yesterday I went to Crail and came back in a big loop via St Andrews, Kingsbarn and the Tay Bridge - unless it's pissing down Im going to do the Old Military Road (A93, best road in UK) up to Braemar, I'd forgotten all about the fish ladder, definitely going for that.Beautiful part of the Country,close to Gleneagles,the actor Ewan McGregor is from Crieff.

The A9 is very scenic but the average speed cameras make it a no-no for bikers
Currently in Hurghada, Egypt. Great place for snorkeling if that's anyone's bag. Weather glorious too, mid 30's this time of year.
Agree about the snorkeling there. Fantastic and so accessible direct from the beach.
Currently in Lanzarote, cloudy and cold and nothing like Hurghada. Hence I’m looking at my phone.
If I'm going to be a meal for any type of shark I'd rather it's a tiger one
Was there a fortnight ago and had 4 or 5 lovely days and a couple cloudy-ish....It'll improve for you hopefully

San Diego is worth a visit and safe. Only have knowledge of the tourist areas but I would never feel any qualms about wallking around anywhere in San Diego. Lovely spot as well some great walks and the climate is fantastic. I have lived on the West Coast of the USA for 45 years and visited San Diego quite a few times.
