If you have a car I’d think about driving up into the Troodos mountains; going to the Kykkos monastery and the tomb of Archbishop Makarios. Probably a bit boring for little kids though if you’ve got any of them in tow.
Nope, just me and the mrs

I'm guessing you mean 'Tala', a village a few miles north of Paphos? - if so, it has a lovely village square with numerous restaurants & bars surrounding it, we've been a couple of times. Like many of the villages just inland from the main coast road, they started out as quaint little villages, but they've all grown up and sprawled out over recent years with many holiday homes built, and they are all populated with a fair smattering of ex-pats, with Paphos being an all year round resort.
I'd recommend you get a car, then you can explore the area at will.
When we go our 'must do' list includes:
-boat trip on 'Wave Dancer' out of Paphos harbour - day trip, 6 hrs worth of all-inclusive drink, bbq & entertainment - It's about 60 Euros - well worth it (hic)
-if you're with kids - Paphos waterpark is very good.
-Paphos hotel beach walk - start at Rikkos Beach at the easterly end of the hotel strip, and the furthest point from Paphos Harbour -walk towards the harbour through all the beach hotels with swim stops at the many small beaches - lunch at the harbour
-Visit the Akamas peninsular - hire a quad bike or 4x4 (or Jeep safari's go here if you fancy that) - visit restaurant called 'Viklari' The Last Castle - beautiful scenery.
-Visit Coral bay & Corallia beaches nearby - longest sandy beaches in the Paphos region (Coral Bay strip, also a good night out)
-Visist Sea Caves - stretch of rocky coastline west of Coral Bay - stunning multi-million pound villas along this stretch - stop at Sea Caves Tavern or Santiero for lunch - stunning scenery - great for snorkelling
-Visit Latchi - half an hour drive up into the hills and down the other side to the North coast - Lots of boat trips from Latchi harbour, or hire your own boat.
-If you're a golfer - Minthis Hills is only 15 mins from Tala - great course with stunning scenery and amazing glass fronted villas surrounding the golf course.
Taxi's are readily available, but a bit pricey I find - may be worth sussing out the local bus routes as they seem to run all day up to midnight.
I'd have a drive around in the daytime, then have a few beers in Tala Square later !!!

Are you the fat, bald bloke who is swimming? To be fair, we've got something very similar, except out rubber ring for the kids is green...

6 hour flight to get there must have been challenging with a dodgy back!Just some views on Cape Verde, as requested, although they will be fairly limited as my back is screwed and will probably need an operation I've been putting off when I get back! This has meant that I've not been able to walk out of the hotel or do any trips... Our hotel (Riu Palace Santa Maria), is really large with great pools and food/drink options. Totally happy with the buffet restaurant for all meals, as it suits the whole family. If there is anything you could think of wanting for breakfast then the chances are they have it.
The location is good as it's close to the town of Santa Maria, which people have said is a colourful place with plenty of decent food options. Also, the beach usually has a yellow flag and the waves are high (which I prefer). Sal sounds a better bet for this than Boa Vista. This does mean that snorkelling is a bit tricky. We went out with full face masks on but had all three swept off our faces by waves. Fortunately, the lifeguards somehow managed to find them all!
The place has a real Caribbean vibe to it, which I like. And all of the locals I have come across appear to be genuinely lovely, which has been one of the highlights, I think.
We may do the full Island Tour on a jeep if my back troubles improve, so I'll put it on here if I do.

No worries mate, it actually eased off last night, so that was nice. The weather is late 20's, and a bit cloudy, which is fine by me.Thanks for that. Must be very hot there this time of year. But sciatica ain't fun no matter where you are.
You're a head of the game as usual I see.Are you the fat, bald bloke who is swimming?

We always go with TUI for packages and they're well-established here. There's a rep available all day, if needed. A longer flight but comfortable enough. I don't think you'd go too far wrong if the price is decent. We got the recommended vaccinations we needed, though it cost a fair bit as we booked quite last minute. They are free on the NHS if you can get them sorted a couple of months prior.Who did you book with? Much cheaper than Spain, looks like a good option.

Yeah, very happy. The service and standards, are the best we've experienced as a family, and everything at the hotel is in great condition. I've barely been in a queue for food or drink due to the vast amount of options for both. The pools are great and there's even a waterpark on-site, which has become a bit of a priority for us. So, alongside having optics in the room and swim-up bars just for adults, pretty much everyone is covered.Ah! Thank you, that’s one thing I never thought of, vaccinations. I was looking at a Riu in Boa Vista, which looked really good, but according to reports, it’s falling to pieces, are you happy with your place?
