Mrs is in holiday booking mood. Wants to go on a cruise, not something that has really ever appealed to me. Has anyone here ever been on one and if so comments would be appreciated.
Just a short one, didn't like it. My parents go on one often and love it.
If you're going on one of the big ones then you'll have plenty of space, some are adults only so cabin keys in the bowl and all that. I imagine it's pretty good if you can afford a good one. I just did the one to Bilbao over the bay of Biscay which is more of a roller coaster than a cruise. Take armbands.Where did you go? My in-laws were always going on them, usually the Caribbean or Med. They loved them, but I worry about being trapped with people I can't stand. Being an unsociable sod does not help matters, my Mrs is the opposite and will talk to anyone for hours.

Go for it mate it'll be okay. I can't do boats, get vertigo for about 2 weeks afterwards.Apparently Norway and up into the arctic hoping to see the Northern Lights is the favourite at the moment. 11 days, only advantage is it leaves from Liverpool not Southampton.

I once went on a cruise with Uncle Albert....
.... it sank!

My wife has done the expedition ships to the arctic and antarctic, much more basic than a regular cruise, but also very, very expensive.
My Mrs was looking at something similar about £6,500 for us both, before any tips, excursions, etc that was for 9 days. She has now booked 5 days up in the arctic for £2,800, the way her mind works she thinks she has saved £4k so is now looking at some 5 star hotels in the Greek islands in September!!!
We did a weeks cruise as part of our honeymoon. Went from Vancouver, up the inside passage to Juneau, Ketchikan, Glacier Bay and Sitka. Wouldn't normally do a cruise, but it one of the cheapest ways of seeing those places in Alaska. We went for the wildlife, say dozens of humpback whales, Sea otters, bald eagles, orca etc.
It is really cheap in someways, all your food and accomodation for 7 nights for about £800 I think, some, that included breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as posh coffees, ice cream parlour and pizza parlour. One day we ate fecking 7 times.
The tipping thing is expensive, you tip for drinks and then a bit tip at the end for the whole boat.
If you're doing excursions, don't book through the cruise company, book direct with the local operators, you'll save a load of cash.
We loved the places we went to and we loved the wildlife, it was good to experience it once, but wouldn't really do a cruise again.
Cruises sound proper crap
D'yer sink it?
