To counter that though I think many resorts will offer cheap deals to get people back. I read an article the other day that hotels in Cancun are offering two free nights per 2 nights booked.

I think a lot of Spanish resorts will drop the price of booze as well to entice the Brits over there.
Yes, short term there’ll be some desperation which will create some really cheap offers.

That said, this thread assumes we’ll be allowed to travel to other countries of our choice. Spain and Greece have ****ed the U.K. clean off as it stands.

I think one of the casualties of corona will be cheap air travel. It’s been arguably too cheap for years in a hugely competitive market. Airlines are going to massively slim down, remove many routes, cut down on frequency of flights and seek to operate their reduced operations profitably.

Supply & Demand innit. If Barry, Paula and the kids can still afford to go to Gran Canaria then they’re the bloodline for low cost airlines so they have to keep the fares low to keep the volumes they need.

The real question is, would you get on a plane that’s been stood on a runway for 4 months gathering dust?

My point is, they’ll restrict the volume and drive up the margin mate.

If we're going to meet our carbon neutral targets then cheap air travel has got to go unfortunately. It's controversial, because we all like to jet off somewhere nice, for as little as possible, me included. But a bit like driving, you have to disincentivise it and make things like trains cheaper and more accessible.

It's ludicrous, that I can fly to New York for around £180, but a Train to Manchester would cost me around £220

As for holidays, we're just going to have some local van adventures this summer. There's a ton of stuff within about 40 miles of where I live to explore. Just me, the missus, the little un and the dog. Camping out in the van, cooking on the gas burner and sitting out watching the sunset and the stars :)

Can you recccomend any decent towns to stay in with little man? Not sure the holiday parks will be open but wouldn't mind a trip to Cornwall in the autumn.

Hoping to do Wales later this year too seeing as I was supposed to be in Snowdonia right now <wah>

Hope to go to Iceland in November , but now seriously thinking about binning off any travel abroad until next spring at the earliest .
