When in trouble turn to my not606 friends.

2023 I owe my family a major holiday. Think holiday of a lifetime. A number of milestones reached in terms of age and kids education. As per norm I am late to plan it.

I had thought to go dual safari / beach in Africa. I spoke to an agent earlier and he said I was struggling as most good packages went last year. Quoted my c£14k <doh> but no guarantee he could even do that! He was a bit of a car salesmen mind...

Thinking about a cruise. Family saying that is a good choice. I am wary though. Might end up with some people close up I just dont like <laugh>. Seems a bit contrived to me a cruise.

I need inspiration. Any ideas welcome. Oh and it needs to be August as my wife is a teacher <doh> like I say, I am completely disorganised....

Australia, New Zealand and Bali
Route 66 would be a choice of mine. But only so I can drive some monster US cars!

Been to Bali, wasnt for me. Just ended up in drinking contests with Ausies in Kuta for 2 weeks, I was a youngun though <laugh>

You can fly into Seattle, hire a large Winibgo (motorhome) drive down the West Coast, lots of towns nature sites etc to stop with good facilities, chop and change itinerary as you please. At least 2/3 weeks and fly back from say Los Angeles.
Something for all ages , hang a couple of motorbikes from the back of the motor home.

Personally I avoid cruises like the plague, prison hulks with better food. Although a Caribbean one could be good?

Mother and Father were always sceptical of cruises until my Uncle convinced them to go with them a few years ago. They’ve been on one every year since!

The ships are massive and plenty variety on them so you shouldnt get stuck with anyone really
Sounds like a great way to see parts of the World

Its not for me though i have a fear of drowning and girlfriend get seasick so not the best place to be haha

I felt exactly the same about going on a cruise, until I went on one last year. It was amazing and we have now booked our second cruise for next year.
The Ship's are so big, you rarely see the same people twice. Just make sure you book anytime catering, otherwise you end up eating at the same table every evening with the same people for the entire cruise!

Some good value tui/Marella cruises around the med great weather in august
Never been to the states and the carrabean could be dodgie in august near hurricane season
Aruba has an all year round resort weather good
Never been to the far eat
Kenya in august is fine for beach and safari 14k stupid price do some research
A nice good quality hotel in the Greek islands would be a great choice I’ve been to quite a few
Read up on the places and if you need help just ask
Part of the enjoyment is choosing you holiday for yourself and your family’s needs
Good luck

Yeah a cruise is a great choice I’ve been on many and find them all excellent
I stick with tui/Marella all inclusive no problems

For my 50th we are going to Florida Keys for 5 days, hop over to Miami for 5 days then finish with a week in Orlando. Something for all the age groups, kids from 7 up to 17 and 6 adults. I was horrified when the wife 1st suggested it but went along with it because I didn’t want to upset her. I’ve been doing some digging and I can’t wait, it’s going to be class. Cost wasn’t that bad either

Singapore, Aus and maybe Hong Kong/Bali? Singapore is a brilliant place, you've got all the tourist stuff in Sydney, Darling Harbour is a favourite place for me, Hong Kong you've got Victoria Peak and the harbour or Bali just to relax on the way home

Avoid that travel agent like the plague, sounds like he hasn’t got a clue.
We did a safari in Selous, Tanzania then beach in Zanzibar. It was fabulous. Selous safari park is one of the biggest but also one of the least visited, we didn’t see one other vehicle on the 6 game drives we did.
