Then what about the event that caused the obvious incident that caused the melee that caused the verbal abuse? I think it’s time to do the obvious here...blame the parents. <ok>

The incident with the push had died down, and then something was said. The referee came over to speak to the 4th official and then he subsequently did nothing. The reaction of Holgate and also Kenny who was within earshot was one of outrage. You could clearly see he was fuming and even laid a hand on the ref, who ignored it, it wasn’t pleasant

If there is any ban it should be equally to both players. Without the first action there would not have been the reaction.

Yeah defo not ignoring that, as said if he has said something and it does look like the ref who is mic’d up and right next to firm should have it recorded, think someone else said it too, but that transcript should be made public. If he has said something no excusing it. Nailed on ban.

Until we know what was said we can only look at the stuff we know. That shove as i said before is just a simple red mist moment, should have been a red. Firms reaction was wrong but sort of understandable (the squaring up) as you know when you have been shoved deliberatly and he clearly lost his rag.

Not sure it gets viewed like that, i think the view is the player is supposed to let the ref deal with it but it is really hard in those situations of intensity to not react.
Defo can see what you are saying though.

as I said my view is ref decided to do nothing to let fa deal with it.

both captains should have been called over and that explained as ref lost control of game by not doing so.

If he did say something racially motivated he deserves what he gets, but he's already saddled with the "racist" tag now due to the internet, social media and fans being what fans are, Holgate might come out of it as "mistaken" but Firmino is now the new Suarez no matter what.

Agreed. And I hope Holgate comes out and apologises if he misheard.

Won't happen unless he's told to, racism needs stamping out not just in football but in society, if it's found that Firmino never used racially motivated language Holgate has dragged the good work of others trying to rid the game of racism back by using it as an excuse to cover up his bad behaviour and possible red card.

Let's hope what ever the outcome justice is served.

That is exactly why Shearer most notably should have to pay as they have fuelled the fire from the moment with no evidence.
This could all be a misunderstanding but Shearer judged and condemed Firmino based on the same things we have seen.

Whatever Firmino say MUST have been bad because why else would a homophobic thug who'd lost his head after conceding a penalty in the biggest game of his life be upset?

Tbf you can understand why he is angry with decision
I hate it when a penalty is won (except against utd and spurs then anything is fine). - that is how I would describe lalla’s pen
Some will say he cheated some will say otherwise. I realise you could be trying to prove something but labelling someone homophobic is also not good.
That said you don’t have an audience of millions and a high profile national job (????)
    :)

If he doesn't like being called homophobic he shouldn't have filled his twitter timeline with homophobic attacks on people then deleted his account when Liverpool fans found them and #exposed him
