Getting the ball is not relevant if you then carry on to injure somebody. Common sense = Winning the ball didn't mean anything.
You saw he won the ball after the first replay? Wow.

I actually did see that he won the ball after the first time of watching that YouTube clip you sent through. Although I was specifically looking for it given that the commentator pointed out that he got a chunk of the ball.

Either way, like you say it's irrelevant whether you get the ball or not if the tackle is adjudged to be dangerous. Even if it doesn't injure the opponent, if the referee believes it was likely to cause injury, and the player was acting without regard for his opponents safety, then it has to be a red card.

Btw stevie I don't think Holden's challenge deserved a booking. He's slid in, but with his studs down and his legs on the ground. He was also bringing his leading leg around from the side, and not straight in from the front. Which, in my opinion, is why he didn't get to the ball first - Evans only got there first cos he jumped into the challenge with his leg straight out in front of him.

And you didn't see he got the ball first from the original replays or the youtube clip you must of watched before linking? Wow. (sorry, couldn't resist a touch of sarcasm)
Like I said, I wasn't defending the challenge, he deserved to go, and it's unfortunate that Holden got injured, nobody with any shred of decency (that rules out KingPepeReina) likes to see any player get injured but it happens in the game. My original reply was just pointing out what I thought was pretty obvious, that he did get the ball first and the follow through got Holden, it didn't look malicious (he never actually went high over the ball) it was just a silly challenge to make by a player who's been below par all season and deservedly got a red card.
