This Bale dispute will go on and on forever and nobody will agree. Just wanted to get that in there early so I can look like a smug **** when this thread hits page 14.

Spurs fans are so touchy about their prized Bale. But the key word in this debate is 'overrated'; considering he was winning an award last year for best British player, and I think we'd all agree he wasn't THE best, by definition its fair to call him overrated. Having said that, I think we'd all agree he's incredibly fun to watch, scores some absolutely class goals, and has the ability to turn a match at any moment, and with some week-in week-out consistency, maybe one day more will actually rate him as the best Brit.

I wasn't being sarcastic you had a point... I thought your reply was pretty fair. I said I can tell your not a juve because your reply made sense... I think your mistaking me for Viking Erik.

In that case i apologise. I read it as sarcastic and insulting. If you didn't mean it that way then fair enough, my bad. Sorry.
I swear these forums are turning me paranoid and bitter :D

Very fair assessment that I agree with, but you used the word overrated, so prepare for infinite amounts of **** to fly your way!

Hoillet has looked like a prospect for the past 2 seasons, now he's starting to really ...step up above his teammates and is making stuff happen. At the same time though he's playing in a very poor team, Yakubu looks like their best player and he couldn't get a game at everton. I don't think anyone can argue with Samba being a useful player to have in the team. If Hoillet can continue improving like he has from two seasons ago to now, then yes he will be a great player. He might as well stagnate get an injury and just remain where he is now, which doesn't make him any better than say... james vaughan from norwch, remember the teenage sensation, youngest ever prem goalscorer, yes him.

just look at Joe cole and how things have gone for him.

People forget 'overrated' doesn't refer simply to a player's ability, but how much credit and attention they get for it. Bale's undeniably awesome, but he also received a ****-ton of credit from the media and pundits last season, which probably was based more on potential and some spectacular performances, than his consistent/average performance (my fantasy team score will vouch for that)

So who was? Awards are nonsensical (see Parker getting relegated as player of the year) but Bale being ace is undeniable, and any suggestion 'he's just got pace' is just stupid.

Meh, I'd have him here anyday.

It's cool, I don't blame you for assuming I was being a ****, it's not like this forum is brimming with top notch gents <laugh>

Yep, exactly. I remember posting the Sgt Peppers analogy on the 'whos the most overrated player' thread: Great album, but some people talk about it like it's better than anything by Beethoven - thus it is also overrated. It is possible to be both overrated and great at the same time.

He was actually give English Players' Player of the Year, which is nothing to do with being British :)

I did - I still fail to see why it should be cross board as, from the proportion of comments, it's obvious that it's more important to your lot then us.

From the proportion of comments, there are more of us than you. How was the OP to know that no one on the spurs board gives a **** about potential signings?

And Hoillet's class, but we arent that desperate for a RW, can wait til summer.

Because he didn't think?

This must be the 3rd or possibly 4th crossboard thread I've seen that was amiable until you came along. There's nothing wrong with these threads at all until some sad cretin like you gets twisty because there is some text on his screen that he isn't interested in reading about.

Spuds aren't interested in signings unless Harry gets his cut in a little brown envelope.

Well that doesn't even make any sense <doh>

FYI Spurs fans don't really give a **** as we've had an article about Hoilett before and we don't really feel the need to talk about him again everytime we're mentioned in the paper :)

I hate Blackburn. Luckily, there **** and everyone know's there relegation bound, so he probably wont go there. <ok>

Holiet can actually play as a striker you know.

He'll be great cover/competition/starter either at the right-hand side of midfield or upfront straight. His pace, dribbling, technique and agility would cause most defenders nightmares and currently looks like Blackburn's best player. <ok>

Ba - Holiet partnership = Goals. A mixture of power, skill, pace, strength and agility.

You have to remember that he can leave for virtually nothing in the summer though, just not to another English side.
