Rubber ball he's not our man, he never has been, he is a loan player held in high esteem like Borini before him. We won't break the bank to sign one player, £10m is to high and I don't think the club will consider it. I would say his value is between £5m-£7m maximum, if big clubs come in for him for at that cost (£10m) it is up to them but it won't be us.

Knackered, have to agree. Considering he couldn't get a game, granted he was coming back from injury. They paid something like 6m, two years left on his contract (not 100% on this), and doing nothing. So to raise his value some 60% in just about 10 games for us is way over the top.

Sorry but we just can't justify spending 10m, good while it lasted.

I did warn you all, that this would be a bridge too far, no way Jenkins will compete with the top 6 club fees! And why should he, we have made money for his home club, need to find our own man, now who used to play there? Let me think now, ah yes Stephen Dobbie!!..............<laugh>

maybe if we are in the premiership in a couple of seasons time we can pay £10 million for a player but as it stands we are entering only our 2nd season and if you listen to reports then our hardest season. we only have a certain budget to play with in the summer and we need at least 4 players so with wages and signing on fee's we are talking about over £20 million, we cant blow more than half of that on one player and thats not including his wages on top....it will be a different story if we are here a few seasons down the road and we amass a much more healthier bank balance. so until then we should stick to our limit and not give in on our policies that has been agreed to.....you can get caught up on trying to get a particular player at all cost but its the wrong move for the club at this present time....If it was me then i would have paid £6.5 million for him but that is easy for me to say as its just numbers to me...

I doubt he will go back there, he is going onto bigger and better things, I think the gunners will be his best match to be honest, they play like us and he will fit into their style of play.

Just a light bit of humour Valley! Don't see why Dobbie can't be the No2 for that position, coming off the bench for 20 minutes every game etc!............................... <cheers>

I hear on the grapevine that we are having a look at Whittingham figure being mentioned in the region of 2.5m - 3m?

apparently he can go for £3 million according to cardiff, he has expressed that if cardiff dont make it this time that he wants a crack at the premiership before it gets to late for him....its common knowledge at the liberty that he would join the swans as he dont want to leave the area because of his family commitments, brendan has been to see him a few times......good player and the best cardiff have and the only player that looks good enough for the step up,

Whitts has been linked to Everton previously and the club stated £5 million. MM stated in January he would not sell Whitts. So, it would need to be accepted by the board without the managers approval. I think at 27 we would stick by the £5 million.

Dai, did you made this part up: "
he has expressed that if cardiff dont make it this time that he wants a crack at the premiership before it gets to late for him". I have not heard him ever say that and in fact seems to keep saying the opposite. If you have a link to this, I would be interested.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17145748

He further stated in January on the club website that he was very happy at Cardiff and was not thinking of going anywhere.

Reading have expressed an interest and have mentioned
£3 million. This means the price would go up :)

I think Mason is going to be the one attracting more attention in the summer.

Agree with alot of comments. Siggy has played 10 games, very well, but does this mean his value should rocket by 60%. Any player that had a good run of games will go from costing peanuts to a decent whack of money. If it is £10million, that's too much, £8million maximum for me. £6million upfront, the rest based of performances and appearances.

siam.... watch if you dont make the premiership this season, he would love to stay at cardiff if you can make it but he will move if he has to so he can have a crack at premiership football...cardiff has stated he can go for £3 million. this may be his final chance as he gets older, can he afford to wait yet another season in the hope teams will want him then, thats the problem he has and £3 million is very good money that will drop considerably next season. he knows ..he is not stupid that time in not on his side and its either now or maybe never....

Whitts MIGHT want to come to the Premier League if Cardiff don't get promoted but I'll bet my house he won't come to Swansea , out of respect for the club he's leaving that he poured his heart into IMO

why wont he come to swansea ???? plenty of players have gone to each others club. players are not like fans cracker they dont care about the bullshit. if cardiff were in the premiership and we were lower league and they wanted tate then even he would go to play premiership football if the terms were right....brendan and el paso have been to watch cardiff play recently...

My guess would be that the vast majority of Swans fans would happily accept Whittingham in the team because he is a very good player even though he has played a few seasons for Cardiff. Or am I wrong?

But he has played in the Prem - 56 times for Villa. (Assuming they were in the Prem when he played for them - I haven't checked.)

There you go with that wide brush 99 , just talking about Cardiff & Whitts .... I'm not saying I'm right , just saying I believe . A lot of players leaving a great career at a club wouldn't want to go to an arch rival & some would love it ... I think Whitts is one that would try to take any Premier club over us .. cheers !
