I think for some games we have been a bit negative at home tbh which hasn’t helped and in neatly all the games given the opposition one or two goals through our own errors . Won’t get away with that in the Premier league.
My Palace friend said they did play solid by negative football under him.... Yes . defensive errors.... and an inability to score when we had the chances
Well after 40 years of success as a manager Roy finally gets his CBE for services to football for relegating Watford
Just a bit of football banter We all know that if he had saved us he would have got a Knighthood or the freedom of Watford
There are some right numpties out there. I thought Roy was a good appointment (as I thought of CR70) but time has proven me wrong. I've not slagged either off, certainly not on SM and I avoid the toxic Wobby comments like the plague! I thought the joke, and it is a joke, was very funny. My respect for RH has not diminished. I think the players have to look at themselves. But something is clearly wrong at the club.
TBF his away record isn’t bad really. Just the home form was disastrous- as you say not just down to Roy. He doesn’t tell the players to make errors or miss chances. Ranieri basically seemed to be more popular as he did the usual PR stuff in interviews whereas Roy isn’t there to please everyone except with results on the pitch.
If three managers can't get this team to win, then I think that says more about the quality of the players than the managers.
You're quite right - think back to Zola's squad ten years ago in the Championship - very few, if any, of this lot can compare. And they produced an exciting brand of football the majority of the time - something the current squad can't be accused of.
I feel that the next manager should have a big say in what players are in the squad. Previous managers have inherited (I quote) a funky crew and whilst they all have their strengths and weaknesses they may not fit into the way the manager thinks so he is trying to put some square pegs into round holes. Of course any manager will not always choose the right players but that's football but hopefully some will be round.
I know it's probably heat of the moment/getting caught in it but certainly smiling with Palace players and waving to the home fans without even an acknowledgement of the away support* after the final whistle probably wasn't a great move given what had just happened. *Not that he would have got much back in a positive way.
