I mean, look at this quote from the above article
How can anyone be inspired by a manager who talks like that?

  3. I've mentioned Carragher a few times. I believe International football is a perfect scenario for blooding a manager.

  4. I expected Italy to beat us easily so I guess it depends on pre-event expectations. I don't think we played great but nor do I think we were poor, we played well in parts and could have won the game had we taken our chances. Of course, if Italy had taken their chances they could have hammered us too.

For the first time ever I am hoping that we get beat tonight so that our sorry humiliation will be 100% complete! Perhaps the FA will then start to take some positibve steps in actually improving the national game but then again maybe not! <doh>

The England team was drawn largely from teams that all had pretty good domestic seasons, almost all the players involved had very good seasons with their clubs (the prime exception being Glen Johnson, who ironically didn't look out of place in the England set-up).
Somehow, Roy has expertly converted a team of players riding a personal high into a dismal, mediocre group unsure of where or how they should be playing.
If they are poor players, then look to them to take the blame, but if they're not, you have to look at the way they're being coached and the tactics being used.
This English squad certainly aren't world beaters, but they're capable of much more than Roy will ever get out of them.

well yeah except for rooney and welbeck.. welbeck scored a might total this season for utd didn't he?

or green who hardly set the world alight

    or jones

    or smalling

    or whilshire.

I would say that hart was average most fo the year. southampton were actually up and down and were in reality mid table

so yeah city won the league... supplied two players. one a total non entity.

Everton finished 5th and supplied two of the best players

Lfc finished 2nd and supplied 5 worldies.

so yeah utd ruined the world cup for england... its so obvious now you point out the rest were great players all year.

I did then watching their preps decided they were totally spent then got a little hope which was a big mistake.

we could have won both games had we taken chances and not conceded sloppy goals. we were not well beaten in either game which is the annoying part.

I'm hoping England get demolished... more likely Hodgson get's the sack the worse we do.

We HAVE to get a new manager if we are to compete and succeed in future competitions.

I hate Mourinho and think he is overrated... but no doubt he's a league above Woy.
I want Martinez for England. Rafa? Some suggest Wenger... no doubt better than Woy. Not keen on Redknapp- but he'd be better than Roy. Even that batard Fergie would be a good appointment (if he'd take it).

Overall though- I think Martinez would be the best. Attractive football, excellent coach, already familiar with a couple of the brightest of the next generation of England players. He should be available (no offence Everton), he's not at a BIG-high wage paying club, this would be a step up for him. Familiar with English football and footballers. Would deprive Everton of a class "A" coach... lol.

    i dunno....

I agree martinez would seem a decent candidate but you'd like him to be at everton and deliver for 5 years first. say deliver a pot. keep them in europe.

Redknapp might be better than hodgosn or not... i don't know. I have never thought of redknapp as a guy to prepare for 3 months with a perfect game plan for a particular opponent. He's not struck me as a master tactician but that might suit englands poor player pool. ... a bit of up and at them and all that.

I'll do it for that (as long as I can get proper beer, not gnat's-piss lager).
