I still think we need a centrehalf. Second half of last season we had Gerrard, Hobbs, and Chester as our centre backs with Cooper loaned out. If he was happy with Cooper as an option we wouldn't have signed Chester immediately and loaned Cooper to Carlisle, we'd have done a deal with Man U to bring Chester in at the end of the season and used Cooper ourselves. As it stands, assuming Hobbs is a done deal I think we've only got him and Chester that he's comfortable selecting, and we're not going to go the season without either of them getting injured or suspended. You could say McShane as well, but we know he's in the 5 players we're trying to offload as soon as possible so we need to ignore him while we build the squad.
