Agree on that, and let's be honest here, this is not a murder case, or a rape, which to me would be the example which would justify your above statement, but money matters, and tax are always very technical, and not even tax inspectors themselves, now all the correct legal requirements, but when a case like this goes to court, you would at least expect that the HMRC, had someone technically gifted enough to have done an appraisal of whether, they really did have a case, to which harry should answer to, but for him to be found not guilty on all charges, with the four other defendants too being found not guilty, tells me that this has been one almighty disaster, that should never have come to court, and I still hold to the view that heads should roll, the incompetence, at the top, these days is staggering, and is the biggest drain on our resources, just take a good look at the idiots in the banking industry, who's reckless gambling has know brought down the whole world economy, effecting millions of lives around the globe, there is so much rot at the top, that bodes very ill for the future, in my humble view! What has happened to good old common sense these days........... <ok>

We know it goes with the teritory knackered and i got no problem with paying my taxes ,the problem comes when the small people have to foot the Bill for incompetance all the time, what makes it worse is that big companies pay NeXT to nothing, they can be Made to pay, but the HMRC choose not to enforce the letter of the law when it politically suite them.

The threat used is that corporations say they Will withdraw buisness intrests if taxes Get too high, but what Are tesco and vodaphone really going to do? If forced they Will pay their way like others and reduce their profit margin, some of them say costs Will Get passed onto the customer, well i Think i would prefer a level playing field and if costs et passed onto the customer it leaves local and small buisnesses with a chance to finally compete and therefore create Jobs. Think of how many local grovere, butchers etc have been wiped out by the corporate model?

It gives nothing back just makesa small percentage of people very rich while the rest head for the breadline and dole que.

HMRC Are a part of a massive problem in this country, its not the job they do its the job they dont do !

Good link Swim, I`ve found one that I`ve just created:

    Hold fast to dreams
    For if dreams die
    Life is a broken-winged bird
    That cannot fly.
    Hold fast to dreams
    For when dreams go
    Life is a barren field
    Frozen with snow.

Is it not a matter of fact these days that if you are the top honcho and you do a piss poor job, you get a knighthood, and a massive bonus for the services to whatever industry you cock up, not sacked.

On the subject of tax evasion or tax avoidance, to be a bit more polite, why has`nt HMRC investigated the affairs of several current MP`s offshore activities. Oh that`s right, their shed full of filthy lucre is in their wives names, silly me. And of course, they make, and break, the laws of the land.

I'd like to know why HMRC made a deal with Vodaphone on there corporation tax. Believed to be not millions but hundreds of millions of pounds. Think how much that would have helped with our debt repayments.
