They've reported on it, four arrested for affray with one of them released without charge. I recommend the one that was released gets in touch with HNK Solicitors, nice payday, minus their 25% no win no fee charge, could be coming their way. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
City fans who were found guilty of affray after the police let the Huddersfield situation develop and collared over 20 City fans and no Huddersfield ones got over 2 years and banning orders. Will be interesting to see what happens here,
Last name Scott, a good lad, but he ended up dropping out at about 19-20ish and going to Uni to do Sports Science. Aussie roots from his parents.
I think I remember him. A lot do drop out, it's madness some of the distance those academy and scholarship boys have to travel. There were kids coming from Essex and Kent doing a 6 hour round trip 3 nights a week to get to Richmond in peak traffic just to train.
That's what I was getting at. Protecting the interests of your own club is fine to a point but to most fair minded people scrapping relegation spoils a sport. What incentive is there for a smaller club to put in the money and effort to be successful? I remember quite some time ago when Bolton were in the PL and their chairman tried coming up with something similar which got kicked out. It says a lot of the type of person who thinks only of himself and not others.
You're not looking at the bigger picture. If it's a thriving, successful league that is either growing or stable and successful, then there is no need to change it. But that isn't the case. If clubs start going bankrupt and getting kicked out the league because they can't pay players or they're spending money on older Australians looking for a retirement payday, rather than younger British players, then the future isn't being prepared for and it puts the entire league for all teams in a precarious position. The solution isn't ideal, nor perfect. But it's an attempt to allow bigger clubs to stabilise and sort out their finances, and to get smaller clubs to consider longer term development via grounds and academies, rather than just salaries for a season. As I wrote, it may or may not work, i don't know. But if anyone has a failing business, you don't just sit there and watch it go under, you do some action to try and save it. This is what this is - I neither support, nor reject it, but accept that change had to happen - we will see ten years down the line if it works.
Go back what was it 7/8 years ago... Rovers were relegated by a golden goal drop kick. Where was the incentive. It took some people who wanted it, who knew they had a fan base and they built it and just look at where they are now. They've built new stands, I believe they bought the ground, attendance over 10k and that will only increase upon increase if they maintain this momentum. Bradford Bulls were SL winners maybe 22 years ago and they are now getting in excess of 4,000 per game and signing international players. Where is their incentive.? There has to be an incentive for an owner/investor to pull a club up by the laces. As it is for those below the top flight there isn't and much like the Prem League the gap will get bigger. What Hull FC have done this season is totally disrespectful to their fan base. Did they say, we're not bothered about winning, so you dont have to pay to watch....?
Well Rerver Saturday against Saints is a tough one. As Eddie Hemmings used to famously say, "never write off the Saints." I predict Saints by six points.
Rovers have the hardest run in of all the top placed sides, they reckon Rovers will finish third but still make the Grand Final. One game at a time.
St Helens maybe my preferred RL team (long story) but Rovers are looking impressive. The turnaround in KR’s team has been phenomenal.
