They sacked the groundstaff and relaid the pitch, but the poor drainage was a design issue daring from when the stadium was built, according to Acun.

Again, Re: BP - sand and salt caused the issue not fat blokes running around on it. They don't do that at the MKM or other modern stadia which share with RL, so I can't see how sand and salt is necessary to create an RL surface. Can't imagine the geordie faithful would have the weekender there if they turned St James's into a beach.

We'll probably be sole tenants once FC's lease runs out anyway as they're skint and can't turn a profit from it and then it'll start costing the football club more, for little if any improvement in the playing surface as the primary issue is drainage as opposed to use.

From memory only, I'm sure Don Robinson thought he was running the club at the time. When really Chris Needler still held all the important shares.
Perhaps you are right about the finances, but Pearson cited the state of the Ideal Standard pitch and even suggested it was a possibly the cause of the many injuries they have. I repeat the same ground was considered the best in the area for football, but suddenly it's not good enough to play RL on ?
Of course, the wise business move would be to share costs at Craven Park, because they are not happy paying anything towards the upkeep of the present stadium, even on a match day. Allegedly.

You of all people should know how Pearson can spin a yarn and not to necessarily believe everything comes out of his mouth. He's not the straight-up straightforward bloke many city fans revere him as, just took the right opportunity at the right time and flipped us for a good profit.

When did Acun mention the drainage 'problems' of the current pitch? The pitch has been immaculate in the brief time he has been here. The Geordie faithful would be up in arms if in an attempt to get Magic Weekend played they suddenly dumped hundreds of tuns of sand in the centre circle, and left it, as was the case at Boothferry Park. You've overlooked the reasons why the RL did that. The pitch was frozen, it was an international and they had pre -sold the tickets, plus it was on the BBC so they HAD to get the match on.

Acun mentioned it either the 'evening with' or that interview before this season - basically said it was a design issue that would be extremely expensive to fix so they've gone with a harder wearing surface when relaid in summer as a 'less expensive' option.
He didn't rule out bouncing FC out at the end of lease if it didn't improve matters.

I was at the 'evening with' It was hijacked by Fc fans asking him what he was going to do for Hull FC? The SKY tosser, chairing the meeting, Palmer? chimed up and said Hull is full of Leeds utd supporters and Hull has always been a rugby town. That state of the pitch was mentioned, mainly about the RL markings, but nothing about the drainage.

It's either in one of the acun interviews or one of the Tan ones.

But yeah, I remember that lady banging on about FC and expecting handouts when he's probably never even watched a game of RL.

I was wondering if she was Adams mum, but it belies the expectation since the stadium was built amongst some FC fans to have the football club subsidise them. Its probably why Adam flipped us and bought them once his Derby investment with the American fella went tits up.

They also had one of the best cricket strips in the Hull and East Riding area, despite their teams not playing at a high standard. At the time, the company obviously invested a lot into their sports facilities.

Nothing wrong with taking the right opportunity at the right time.
I just don't get this apparent need to pull down Adam Pearson and his time with us.
What he may or may not have done since with FC does not change the fact that he was great for us, simple as.

He was and he delivered on everything he said he would. It seems his second time with us wasn't as harmonious as it could have been but then again he was an employee then and not the owner.
    What could have been eh?

Probably football, but not cricket which does need a huge investment to keep good quality strip.

I'm not pulling anyone down or pushing them up. He was successful so fair play to him, he just wasn't the demi-god some portray him as and is more than capable of using the media to his own advantage.

Hull Live. Main website page tonight, Wednesday, two days before Hull City play at home v Luton. No less then nine stories/articles/links to rugby league, not forgetting the rugby league season has finished, and erm, one linked to Hull City and that's a negative one about one of our loan players unsure where his future lies. He has yet to play a full game for us. Bias? No of course not.

And it's grounds for "cautious optimism" apparently. FFS if this ever comes in in football it will be deemed by most as a disaster and the end of the game as we know it
