Totally agree with putting him on the bench and giving him an opportunity - in our current predicament it might even be worth starting him against Everton and not risking Austin at all. I wouldn't have him in instead of AJ - in addition to, but not ahead of. But it might also be an idea to retain a sense of perspective about what this guy can offer. If he plays and doesn't score for 4-5 matches to we suddenly consign him to waste? Give me a go but let's also be realistic.
I don't think anyone would think that with a young player, only an old crock. Keep him until the end of them month and then loan him if he doesn't do really well and if we sign 2 forwards. There's no point sending him out if we havent got a single forward available in the squad.
Well if we don't play him we will never know will we? Played 10 mins scored 1 is a good enough start for me. Rest Austin v the Toffee's and stick Hitch & AJ on from the start and get the born again Traore to knock some crosses in. What do we have to lose?
No misquote at all? You said it might be an idea to retain a sense of perspective of what he can offer. All I said is that we will never know what he can offer if he's always out on loan.
Where do I say he shouldn't get an opportunity? The perspective part relates to the idea that some on here are verging on the notion that Hitchcock will be our goal-scoring saviour. Two separate ideas. Anyway, scrap that, I'm being a bit stroppy and we're actually saying similar things.
No one is saying he will be the saviour, we just want him to have a chance. Even if there's only a 10% chance he does amazing, its still worth tsking. Especially if we have no one else.
I have to agree that this Hitchcock mania is odd, he might have some potential but scoring from one yard out doesn't make him the answer to our prayers. He had his contract terminated at Blackburn which says a lot, if he was that good they would have held on to him or sold him. Id like to see him given a bit of game time with us but if we get a new striker in he will be 4th or 5th choice and so it would be far better to have him out on loan getting game time, if he starts banging in goals then we have a goalscorer with confidence ready to come back to us.
He a young QPR up coming QPR player that has scored a few whilst out on loan. This doesnt mark him out as the messiah but certainly think he's earned the right to be involved in the Everton game. We dont expect to win it so lets try out OUR OWN players first. After all, what have we got to lose?
