This is the only photograph of Concorde flying at supersonic speed. It was taken by Adrian Meredith who was flying in an RAF Tornado jet during a rendezvous with the Concorde over the Irish Sea in April 1985. #UKmfg please log in to view this image please log in to view this image

My fathers' aircraft with 630 Squadron, East Kirkby, Lincolnshire. LE - K for Kitty was their Avro Lancaster aircraft early on. They then changed to LE-X for most of their ops. LE - C Lancaster can be seen in the background. The bomb trolley ( DX 64 ) was obviously 'borrowed' from the neighbuoring 57 Squadron who shared the runway. The general system was two squadrons shared a 'X' runway on each airfield. There were hundreds littered throughout England, although Bomber Command centred in the north east of England. Fighter Command was centred more so south east of London. please log in to view this image Many aircraft were shot down from German JU88 flying underneath the bombers and shooting up towards the bomb bay doors, thus causing the aircraft to explode, without the pilot or crew knowing what hit them. please log in to view this image Lancaster hit from below by a German aircraft JU88 nightfighter armed with Schraege-musik (Jazz music) upward firing cannons. I spoke with a number of ex crew members about this and they had no knowledge of how they were shot down. The RAF would not let on about the upward firing cannons on the German aircraft. They simply called aircraft exploding, 'scarecrows'..... making out the explosions were similar to flak shot up by the ground aircrews, which would explode at designated heights.

Not a trainer, t-shirt or head down looking at some gadget. A thousand hats and ties. Love those sweeping staircases on the trams; and the inter-mingling of the horse drawn carts on the streets. Haven’t seen a bustling market like that for a while either. Great film. Cheers Uber.
Yes, true that. Also apart from the buses, very little if not nil advertising hoardings on buildings. The hats and the style of clothing displayed a higher level of respectable manner than today’s society. Life seemed a lot less hectic.
Wish we had smellovision. No deodorant, rare baths, hardly any showers, heavy woollen clothing in all weathers……
Good manly times then Sb . Smell of coal fires, chimney stacks, hard work, beer and tobacco (not forgetting horse ****) .
Sub in diesel for horse **** and it wasn’t much different in the Sixties. Except we had Brut and Old Spice……
