A beautifully restored 1938 tube train is making a journey through central London next month, and you can be on board! You can swap your regular commute for a trip on a genuine 1930s art deco tube train and it’s all down to the London Transport Museum’s upcoming heritage vehicle outing. Two trips will take place on Sunday, March 17: one from Northfields, running non-stop to Upminster; and the second will leave Upminster and make the journey to Acton Town, via Baker Street and Rayners Lane. F*ck me, I used to travel on those trains in the 1960s on the Northern Line from Clapham Common, they were really grotty then and the stations were horrible, dank, dark and smelly. I can't imagine anyone would want to be reminded of that era in London Transport's history...

What year was this? I recognise some of the team, but not all, so guessing it must be mid-70’s when I first started supporting the R’s.
We've got a couple of these in regular service on the Isle of Wight albeit in varying stages of disrepair. Preferred the steam trains they replaced!
