I know it wont change anything .... however on Monday I think we (the fans) should make it clear on our thoughts! For the whole 90' mins I think we should be chanting "There's only 1 Nigel Adkins" "Nigel Adkin's Red Army" as many times as we can...
Or, and hear me out here, we could support the team and encourage them to win the game. I know it's unconventional thinking, but three points might do us some good.
We def have to support the Saints - but you can understand so many fans feeling upset, bewildered and really low about the news dumped on us a couple of hours ago. I feel dazed and bloody annoyed myself. We need to give Nigel a send off so no problem singing our Nigel songs for a bit on Monday - but then we must get behind the lads as they probably need us more right now than at any time this season. God only knows how this new man will turn out - but its not his fault that Nigel got the push. What will start a fans revolt on Monday night is if the team doesnt perform and Everton beat us easily - best way to avoid this happening is to get behind the boys. Come On You Reds !
Dman - I agree the team need the fans support now more than ever! Like you whilst we voice our opinion on the sacking - mindful we still have a team to support!
Good comment, Joe. Let's not go overboard about this. If the new manager relegates us, then we can have our moan. If he keeps us up, and the team get the strengthening and improved performances/position the club is aiming for then we can all accept that Cortese has made another blinder of a decision. Already, I'm willing to bet he has. Nigel's positivity..?
Maradonna, the Falklands, now Ponchi... I'm so angry I haven't been bothered to read his name properly.
None of this is his fault! The last person, apart from the team themselves, to take this out on is the new manager. As others have said, we have to support the team and help get them through this. Slagging off the manager won't help.
It's not the end of the world a change of manager. Actions like this can be damaging to the players. Think what you're doing before you act.
