As there are a few regeneration project threads going up, thought I'd add this: Hilton have put in a planning application for a 159-bed, 7-storey, Hilton Garden Inn hotel, conference centre, restaurant and gym on Ferensway (former LA's site). https://www.hullcc.gov.uk/padcbc/pu...ils.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=NP0HLESOI0700 Should be a great addition for 2017.
Yeah, my dad works for the council and I know the guys running the project, it's gonna be a hilton garden, should be alright.
Bring it on. Been to Leeds today. The city centre lives long and prosperously post-5pm, and we need to do the same here. Hotels, eateries, pubs, shops, bars - we need them here.
All these new developments show a confidence in Hull that we've not seen for many decades, it's great news.
Plans to build international hotel on the old LA's site have been given the go-ahead... http://www.hullcc.gov.uk/portal/pag...h=Jul-15&p_page_number=1&content=pressrelease
all we need now are some nice shops ,affordable and realistic rates , boutiques and craft shops , not another Iceland/WmHill/poundland/EE etc etc etc
I just hope that all this redevelopment is ready in time for 2017 otherwise the city is going to look like a ****ing big building site.
I believe there was plans to build a Marriot Hotel on the site of the Rank Flour Mill. As it is Manor Properties though doubt we will see it anytime this side of 2050
Looks alright- How many locals knowing what was on the site previously will be able to resist a little jive in the foyer
And situated right next door to the housing estate of their future staff. Polish people are much better workers in the hotel industry - fact
Despite not having started building yet (apparently they changed the plans and re-apply for planning), it still due to open early next year... Hilton Garden Inn hotel will open in Hull by early 2017 please log in to view this image A new four-star Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Hull city centre is expected to open in early 2017. The site of the former Lexington Avenue nightclub in Ferensway is currently being cleared by contractors ahead of construction work. Hull scrutiny councillors heard today the 169-bed hotel was due to open its doors in spring next year. Mark Jones, the council's director of regeneration, said: "The decision by Hilton to invest in Hull is a sign of confidence and means we can go out to the commercial market and say: 'Look what's happening here, it's not a dream it's a reality.' "Now that someone has made the first move others will follow, without doubt." Hull has long been seen in lacking in hotel capacity, particularly in the city centre. There are currently several hotel schemes with planning permission that have yet to get off the ground. Together, they represent a total of 720 beds. Planning committee chairman Councillor Sean Chaytor said: "We want these schemes to happen, hopefully this will encourage some of the others." http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hilt...tory-29152586-detail/story.html#ixzz46TOglFHA
