What are your highlights and disappointments for this season...
Highlights:
August: The ten points in four games picked up at the beginning of the season. Unknown at the time but six of those points came against current play-off contenders Cheltenham (home) and Crewe (away). Within all this was the strong performance away to Championship side Brighton and although we lost 0-1 it was another August performance that had every fan believing.
Crewe 3-4 March: Now this is a strange one because it probably should be under disappointment but the way Crewe ripped us to bits in the final 15 minutes, was heartache as a supporter but the opposition waves of attack after attack was impressive. We came back from 1-3 down to level 3-3 but the visitors had the final say and if anyone deserves promotion this season they do.
Rotherham 0-0 February: Performance of the season and despite one of the lowest attendances of the season for this mid-week game, with a back line up of Evans, Essam, King, Jackman this showed the way forward and should have remained so! Many supporters missed this game and people still give me stick over Hereford (see later) but goals are not everything and for those that did not turn up, they will never know.
Frank Nouble & Jordan Obita: Shows the value of loan signings, although Frank Nouble was my favourite of the two.
Players: In no particular order, Jack Evans, Connor Essam, Ashley Miller, Gavin Tomlin, Simon King, Danny Jackman (POY).
Disappointments:
Luke Rooney: Many will not agree with me but this sale really disappointed me and probably in part cost us our season. We bring in the transfer fee with one hand then count the cost of it with the other. Worst decision of the season for me.
Hereford 5-4: You all know my story by now, if not then you don't need to worry about it, quickly moving on - lol
Failure for a second season: how ever many wins you need out of remaining games, regardless, we buried our heads and continue to bury our heads in the sand.
Players: Joe Martin
Behind closed doors: Just embarrassing as a supporter the scenarios of Stoke and Swindon.
.............................
I have probably missed many but I will leave the rest to your choices...
