Due to the fact we are in need of a couple of better quality players to get us over the line and that was made evident in certain areas of the field on Saturday vs port vale.
those areas for me being the difference in the outcome i.e. defencive midfield, attacking midfield & striker being the most obvious, brings me on to a matter that alwaysright spoke of.
that is - should we push the boat out slightly to gain the players needed for our challenge of staying in the top three or 'top of the league' if you wish !
obviously it would be at a financial cost in the short term and could cause unrest within the playing staff...though i'd say it's worth making such a bold move, rather than lose out yet again in not achiving promotion from the basement division and all that follows.
as paul scally has stated before that there is only a slight financial reduction/gain between two/one divisions, but i'm not so sure...i think there is more to gain from going up than just that and that's bigger attendances, sponsors wanting to be involved with us, more players having more interest in joining us higher up the league and so on...all financial gain in the short/long term and everyone to do with Gillingham fc being a lot more happy and confident in our future regards all things Gillingham fc !
back to these areas on the field that i speak of, being defencive/attack midfield & striker, positions covered by certain players who we've been interested in and are by the looks of things are way above our price structure, those in question are David Wright, Cody Mcdonald & maybe Sam Saunders, surely these are worth the punt be it on loan or long term and that's evidently obvious why that's the reason they bring higher price tags and wage demands !
THOUGHTS ???
