May have been asked before, but what do we think the likelihood of RK/EK extending their contracts beyond the current 3 years? Otherwise this time net year will be a big panic from us fans as he will only have 1 more left
Can't see it. They will be here for the 3 years then move on unless something remarkable happens here. Bigger clubs or Holland will come in for him.
I guess I can dream that he has fallen in love with the club/fans and the area and never wants to leave
I don't know so much. Koeman came here for the right reasons. He has said it had nothing to do with money, although no doubt he is being paid well. If he enjoys the project that much, and feels there is major work and achievement to be done, then he may sign on for longer. There are managers who go to the biggest club, spend the most money, and then make as big an achievement as they can. Those that are considered underachievers get sacked. Then there are those who take on, possibly the bigger challenge of, nurturing young players, making smart purchases, and through sheer guile and skill, achieve the maximum with those. For example, what is the bigger achievement.? Saints getting 2nd place in the PL or Chelsea winning it.? Koeman hasn't done that sort of thing yet, and he might stay to see if he can make it happen. If that takes more than 3 years he may consider his initial time here as unfinished business.
I hope you are right. Lets be honest, he is still young for a manager and could spend 5-6 years here easily and still go on to manage a number of other clubs. He must know the turnaround for managers at a club like Barca can be quite quick so in a sense, there is no rush to get there. He certainly isn't doing his stock any harm at the moment with us either.
I know RK has had success in the loan market, but thats not the kind of loan I am prepared to go for!
I would put the chance at about zero. Ron will complete his contract, but can't see him extending it.
Who's to say Koeman will outgrow the club and be off to a top club in a year or two? We could quite easily come 12th next season. Martinez took Everton to 5th and was highly rated and then nearly gets sacked the next season.
I think Ron will stay as long as we keep improving on the previous season. I get the feeling his relationship with Southampton goes beyond fame and fortune - if only some of our best players felt the same. I wonder if his Spanish is as delightfully bumbling as his English...
