Bert van Oostveen is, from what football experts say, a man that needs his ego to be stroked. Whilst the entire country and every football program wanted Koeman for the job, Van Oostveen chose Hiddink because that would have given him the credits when Hiddink did well. Koeman openly applied for the job but was blatently ignored by Van Oostveen because his ego was to big. With time Koeman grew weary and a bit angry because he never received the call from the FA to approach him for the managerial position.
Well Holland are 3-0 up against Latvia already so looks like point 1 of Coves list is not going to happen.
All speculation from the Express. Everything is going well here and Koeman has already said that the Dutch FA had missed the boat when this first raised it's ugly head. Managing a team on a day to day basis is far more enjoyable than managing any international side and he is young enough to get another chance later.
Bit of news coming from the Dutch newspapers, Algemeen Dagblad say they have a scoop on Hiddink. They say he will step down as manager but they don't know in what fashion. By contract, Hiddink will be appointed as the next technical director. He can take on that position earlier as planned and leave it to Danny Blind to manage Oranje. There are three options in this scenario: 1. Hiddink steps down and moves to the TD position 2. Hiddink resigns 3. Hiddink gets fired My list on page 2 still applies in all cases but we've moved on to point 3 on that list if the newspapers have it right. They almost always do. This ain't the Daily Mail.
Makes sense. If they don't have a match until March then it gives Blind plenty of time to see where he's going [can't believe I have just written that appalling pun].
Ron has already said he won't break his contract. They missed their chance when the gave the job to Hiddink. Not concerned by this.
We can worry about this in a years time. However, today is a beautiful day and one not be filled with uncertainty.
By which time, super Ron will have got us into the Champions League and he will have no interest in leaving.
