Planning is always a problem in this city, i must agree on the decent quality hotels. They are all **** holes in Plymouth... Not much in the way of decent resterants either... Was Brent's hotel a 4 star or more? he wanted to build? Distant you forgot to mention that place Ibis!!! another **** hole
I don't know what you are all worrying about, the name of the hotel chain escapes me at the moment, but they will be turning the civic centre into a luxury hotel like Brent was supposed to be doing but dropped the project. It is fairly obvious that Brent can talk the talk but unfortunately he can't walk the walk. Not one of the projects linked to Brent has come into fruition. I personally don't think he has the finances to complete any of the projects still linked to him unless he has a financial backer (s) in place. Whatever happened to the hotel in Exeter that Brent was linked with (think it was Exeter) ... was it ever finished ?
Hang on a cotton pickin minute here, I wasn't actually having a go at Brent's wealth or rich people as such anyway. I was pointing out that you do not need to wipe your arse with gold speckled bog paper in a hotel for it to be adequate for purpose. Funnily enough I've also stayed in all manor of hotels all over the world so am not exactly naive about what accommodation is on offer. I am not a socialist either and have probably only voted that way once in my life. I do not like over indulgence by anyone and cannot stand pretentious pricks who think it's altogether neccessary. When you stay somewhere you need firstly a clean room. Secondly it needs to be comfortable with the required features to allow that comfort. Shower and bog being two. You can buy food anywhere so it does not need a 5* resturant. I would point out I've had crap meals in supposed high class places and really goood food in lesser joints. You do not need a 5* hotel to fix a business deal either. I could afford to stay in such places if I chose. I simply don't think they are worth the extra money in any sort of value sense. There also seems to be a rush to defend our millionaire owner because he has money (allegedly). Nowhere have I criticised the man for being rich. I criticise him for obtaining the club for nothing and trying to come over as the great saviour of the club due to his social conscience and wishing to "do something for the people of Plymouth". Ha fecking Ha ha to that one. It has become increasing obvious to anyone that he only ever set out to do something for Brent. This deep pocketed man has at no time ever put his hand in his seriously deep pocket and offered the club anything for free. Why should he of course. I've always said it is his money and therefore his choice what he does with it. Don't however pretend to be something you are not. I worry lyndhurst because I don't see a queue forming outside the ground either. I think it is unlikely there will be one if all of this goes tits up. I have no confidence in Brent, not because he is a rich man and I'm envious, but because his record is poor in the finishing things and it ain't looking like he is going to finish this one at Argyle either. I've invested 50+ years in that club so I think I have a right to call him out. After all I've invested thousands in support and will never get any return.
