a look at the FARE website would have resolved that issue fairly quickly and it would be a racist insult. There is not a big jump from "you are not a race" to "i can't be racist because you are not a race".

No, my point was that being abusive to a person of different nationality does not necessarily mean racism. Unless they are also a different race. It isn't xenophobic. It is racist. Ask the United Nations if you don't believe me. You seem like a nice guy and of course I don't want to fall out with you but I saw this argument coming a mile off. It holds no water whatsoever. It is reducing "racism" to just one of its constituent parts and building it back up dressed as solely about that one part. I appreciate you are trying to make an intellectual argument for this, but you really have a massive blind spot, and that is forgetting what racism actually is when compiling your argument. As for the creationism thread. I certainly was not to blame for keeping that going. I made one point and one point only. That I had to repeat it 100 times says more about everyone else than it does about me.
The Irish are more of a different ethnicity than a different race. Sure we've got a load of gingers and some decidedly Celtic traits but there has been so many movements of population between the islands that it is impossible to define one single race in the way it was in the past - now we're all Anglo-Saxon-Norman-Celtic hybrids. Still with no better way of describing it it is almost always defined as racism when people from a specific ethnic background are discriminated against purely on their ethnic background.
i posted to-pre-empt the nonsense that I knew would follow to justify racism. The fact is that there is a distinctive Irish genotype which makes the Irish genetically distinct from Britons. Like I say, JJS is probably not a bad guy but from the moment he posted this: You just knew what was coming. We coasted inexorably towards it for three pages.
