It's really taken off as a sport for kids to play, not so much one to watch but that may well come as this generation grows up. The US is obviously very competitive but don't play the sports the rest of the world plays.
I think the "kids to play" is the important bit. Football is one of the few sports you can play 'properly' with just a ball. It's much easier to play pseudo-competitively with just a few people, of any ability. If they grow up liking it, they'll idolise the best, and therefore want to watch the sport. I can't see it doing anything other than growing.
Over there its seen as bit of trendy hipster type sport. I think the Latino population helps it's popularity though.
BBC News on TV: -McNally says renaming CR not on agenda, but not to be ruled out. He says it's mainly something for new stadiums. -New partnership may lead to USA Tour -Also looking at hosting music events year-round at CR to increase revenue.
'soccer' is now the 2nd most popular sport for boys under 16 in the US while it is 1st for girls (though it has been 1st for girls for some time now)
I agree and I hope we continue to have a local company as our shirt sponsor even if it means we get less revenue from it. How many PL teams now have 'betting companies' logos on their shirts - it seems to be getting more each season???
i know its origins are in norwich, but would you describe aviva as a local company? its a london company now
whilst on sponsorship, does anyone know if we still have any link with Lotus? that was one cool brand to be linked with.
Have a look at the 'Recaro' seats for the mangager etc next time we're on MotD - certainly a better brand than Arsenal have got on their seats (Citroen). Also, ads for lotus cars flash round the pich-side advertising (or used to). Lotus is a 'club partner' - http://www.canaries.co.uk/commercial/partners/
