Back from the game and I thought we disrespected a: LCFC (through our performance and not the selected team) and b: our own supporters, who were more up for it than the players. Our performance smacked of orders to not put too much effort in, Morro was absolutely hopeless and could easily have latched on to a couple of crosses, but just couldn't be bothered. I thought the defence and midfield put reasonable shifts in but no-one seemed to want to step up to the plate and take a shot. It was as if the ball was a hot potato! Credit to the LCFC support though. I didn't think their team looked anything special, but at least they turned up and had a go, which was more than our lot did and they got their just result.
I think there were two factors that won the game for us. The first was that we worked harder. I was actually surprised at this as work-rate hasn't been our strength over the season whereas Norwich are where they are because of their team spirit and their commitment and the fact they will run all day long for each other. But on the day, I thought Neil Danns was everywhere and gave us great legs in the middle and allowed Wellens to orchestrate things for us. I still think Danns needs to distribute the ball better but he typified our energy all over the pitch. The 2nd was that our centre-backs were a lot better than yours. Now before I carry on, it's definitely worth noting that these weren't your 1st choice centre backs and that your best striker was missing. But St Ledger carried on his great form of late and Morgan (my MOTM) was an absolute brick wall for us and they looked like a top class pairing. Interesting to see if Mills gets his place back anytime soon. Nugent never stopped running for us and linked midfield to attack well, dropping off the front and not giving Fox any time to pick passes. Beckford, whilst wasteful in possession, gave us a good outball with his pace and helped stretch the game to give the likes of Wellens more space to play. Before, we spoke about Beckford not adding anything to the team when he isn't scoring, but today he did with his running and work rate and it represents a real improvement for him since Nigel got him playing. I don't believe Barnett (who personally, I've never rated) and Ward dealt with them very well. Also, Russell Martin never coped with Dyer. Had Naughton been playing, I think Lloyd would have been quieter as he could have matched his pace whereas Martin just seemed to stand off him all match. But Norwich were under par in terms of their team selection and performance but they'll be fine in the PL and I think they provide a good example for teams coming up of how to adapt to the league above. It was a good game and good luck for the rest of the season
A couple less than you according to BBC (but we all know they're ****e) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/16994516
Respond? You've said basically the same thing as me give or take a point, except for Pilkington and Drury. And I really don't see how you give Drury so low- yes passing was bad, but his defence was excellent- I watched a stream and the commentators said repeatedly that Leicester targeted our right side at Martin. I think the one thing that shone today is that Drury, passing aside (though the same goes for everyone) can still very much hold his own at Championship level and he's adequate at Prem although I worry he can last the full 90
