For those who think we've spent silly money, here's the list of summer PL spending:

Ironic that three of the bottom four won on the opening day scoring 13 goals without conceding.
 
This list does not help. If we are labelled "big spenders" it will stick like a bad smell. Its funny , that nobody questions how scum operates, even they have spend over ten times more than we.

they did about 10 years ago when the Russian came but he just spent big and no one cares.

Funny how Chelsea owner spends hundreds of millions and it's ok yet we have much wealthier owners who spend pocket money and we are the next Portsmouth?
 
you've conveniently forgotten about hoilett who will probably cost about £7m.

and also that each player you signed will have shafted you for both wages and signing on fees.

so i'd say £20m is a more realistic estimate of what you've spent this summer. plus of course you're stuck with the likes of ferdinand, wright phillips who aint going anywhere given the wages they're on.

I think you'll find that the amount of money spent has nothing to do with it....clubs like Chelsea et al are expected to spend big to stay competitve at the top.

The reason we are talked about so much is the volume of players we are buying and constantly in the paper with a new player linked or signed.....and thats why people are talking about us.
 
I understand the sentiment, but from people I've spoken to, the big-spending barbs are based on outlay comparitive to incoming revenue. These figures don't factor in the Hoilett tribunal, or the signing-on fees surely given out to many on their last big contract, plus the wages on offer to these players too. Chelsea are obviously the exception to the rule, but those clubs above us are generally established Premier League clubs, with bigger stadiums and higher average-gates so the money that they spend is viewed as more sustainable.

I know this isn't completely accurate as we have cleared big-earners from the wage bill this summer. I just think people see a traditionally small club with a small stadium making ambitious plans and spending money and think it's bad for football, and the possibility of another Pompey. In all honesty, I thought the same about Cardiff City and the amounts they were spending on the likes of Peter Thorne, Gavin Gordon, Andy Campbell and Spencer Prior the years before they beat us in the play-off final
 
Wed be in the top 1/3rd if you factored in the wages. We arent paying a lot in fees but its all going to wages. Id rather buy younger players on less money with resale value than a bunch ageing pros on 2-3 times the money.
 
We know that the fees above are irrelevant in relation to contract costs, but it's clear that TF and AB have 'invested' to establish the 'brand', it's a much bigger picture than just a football club and they know the long-term returns will make their initial investment seem like petty cash. In five years time we could be looking at a club that has not only established itself in the top flight but also with a new multi-purpose stadium and a youth set-up and training facilities that are second-to-none will be self-sustaining and have a fantastic future, THAT is the dream that TF is selling at the moment...

Are we the only club who pay sign-in fees? I believe those sign-in-fees are included in what every team has paid. Hoiletts fee does not go anywhere near 7 million, probably under 3.5 million....

Thank you. I think it may be 200m within 3 seasons ... We will continue to help you in any way we can but alas you will never be a Swansea ... that lot plays good football but i wish Bellamy and the QPR second team the best of luck
