I didn't mind his celebration, the classless twat on their side was Zamora/Plug from the Beano- gobbing off all match and got a well-deserved massive boo when he was subbed. I like Austin, shame we didn't sign him.

Is this thread a wind up? Surely Austins celebration can't have offended anyone? It was pure banterage, or bants as the commoners call it. Apparently their physio started to hot foot it down to Austin when he saw him hobbling then mad a hasty retreat when he realised he'd made a tit of himself. I can neither confirm nor deny this though.
Don’t understand why anyone would be offended by it per se. It was probably the 1000th time someone had done a celebration like that but footballers are, generally speaking, a dim bunch. But, in truth, that type of celebration is way past its use by/sell by/best before date now and was probably a zeitgeist of the day he first dreamt it up - two years back. Perhaps it was that consideration, visualising the grand joke, that made him fluff that scandalous penalty against us on opening day (still a massive and overlooked travesty despite its impotence).

It was strange that he did it, as if he thought we fans turned him down, and as Strov says, it's only his own body that resulted in his failed medical. I'd forgotten about it and was surprised he cared enough about us. Classless is a bit of an overreaction but I thought it was strange.
I think it was abit of banter between the fans and Austin, Austin wanted to come here and we would of liked him here. wouldn't worry too much about it, I'm sure he'll be worrying more about the fact burnley & Hull might be staying up instead of DPQR! mwahaha
