Since last season, I've had concerns that the Heston training ground has been the cause of our unusually high level of injuries in our successive squads.

We moved into Heston at the beginning of the 23/24 season.

QPR began using their new Heston training ground at the start of the 2023–24 season.

Players were scheduled to report back to the new facility on 22 June 2023 for pre‑season testing, following the official opening on 21 June 2023. That timing places the first active use of the site at the beginning of the 2023–24 campaign.

This exactly coincides with our upturn in injuries.

I think you need to secretly slip your report under Nourry’s office door, or under his windscreen wiper. Then he can read it, investigate, make any remedial action and … most importantly … take full kudos for sorting it out.

Most of our significant injuries seem to happen in matches though I accept the training pitches may do something to make those injuries more likely. My theory would be it’s more to do with failings on that side of the coaching/behind the scenes staff. In JCS’ case we only got him in the first place because he’s injury-prone and we decided it was worth the gamble as paid off when we signed Field who had a similar-ish history.

I totally agree with that. Most of the injuries are match injuries....but there do seem to be a few niggles that appear when training on the way back from injury....like Chair at the moment (but that must happen all the time.

Again I agree with Star of DB as we got JCS, Vale and now Obikwu, who was recalled from his Lincoln City loan due to injury ...(and of course Taylor Richards but I have tried to obliterate the person who failed his Birmingham medical by getting a serious injury during the testing process).

It is risky...but Field did well, Vale is beginning to show real promise... we will see

I totally agree with that. Most of the injuries are match injuries....but there do seem to be a few niggles that appear when training on the way back from injury....like Chair at the moment (but that must happen all the time.

Well, I think the point is missed that if the training ground is creating excessive wear on the joints and muscles, the injuries will happen during competitive matches when the players really push themselves.

So, what the other mention clubs found is that people kept going off injured in matches, as opposed to being injured in training, because the material used under the surface was creating the issue in their conditioning undetected until the players would begin pushing themselves in competitive games.

There is truth in that. But that argument only goes so far and does not explain why so many players who don't have injury history are also copping it.
