I have been reading all the posts over the last couple of weeks and have been hesitant to get too involved as I can understand both sides of the debate. What is clear that both sides are equally passionate about all things Ipswich but differ on how to achieve the end game we all are looking for, but I feel I'm ready to throw my opinion in the mix now
I was highly delighted when we parted company from Mick and equally enthused about the appointment of PH, however, I must confess that I was a bit unsettled when he brought so many new players in from the lower leagues, I get what both ME and PH are trying to achieve but the sheer weight of numbers surprised me, but we shouldn't forget that we have lost quite a few players through loanees returning to their parent clubs and also a few transfer requests were handed in through no fault of PH.
The fact that some people are bemoaning the fact that we haven't allowed players from our academy to be promoted I find quite surprising because the fact they play for our academy does not automatically ensure their place in the first team so imo that's not a problem, if the manager thinks they are not ready then that's good enough for me
JWM has already posed the question of how long do we give PH and he has voiced his opinion that maybe he should go sooner rather than later, he was slated for this view because of the few games that has been played, but that doesn't make him wrong, maybe PH isn't the one for us, and there has to be a cut off point somewhere, whether that's xmas/end of season/or 3 more games, when is enough enough?
We desperately need a win, any way we can and what better time to start than Sunday. If we win the confidence levels will sore and PH will be more confident in trying different tactics such as two up front. If we lose then things could well turn ugly for him, but lets not forget that if we do get relegated then PH would be the ideal choice of manager in league 1 which is kind of ironic really
As for ME I do think that this could well be his last roll of the dice and if things don't pan out as he expects then I can see him selling up, now some people might think this would be no great loss, but I guess I will be in the minority and say I would be very nervous about him going, can we really find another investor who is willing to bankroll this club of ours who are at the lower level of potential in the championship, mediocre fan base and located in carrot crunching territory, tough task that one!
So to finish, I think we have no choice but to support PH and hope he gets it right for all our sakes
