I agree that Bryan always seemed pleased to be at Spurs and enjoyed seeing us play the Spurs way. He was actually a Gillingham fan (and at one time a director) and they had a fanzine named in his honour - Brian Moore's Head Looks Uncannily Like the London Planetarium, which is actually a line from Dickie Davies eyes by Half Man Half Biscuit.
...Half Man Half Biscuit...(goes misty eyed) I may have to listen to everything they ever recorded right now...twice. "In a decently ordered society, members of Half Man Half Biscuit would routinely be carried shoulder high through the streets of every city they visited." - John Peel
Half Man Half Biscuit...." All I Want for Christmas Is A Dukla Prague Away Kit " this Shirt was one of the best selling items of the " Toffs " replica sports shirts, Amber body with maroon sleeves and neck trim.
Happy 77th birthday to the great Jimmy Greaves. Hope things are looking up for him. Anyone seen an update on his recovery?
Just for clarity, this would've been in 1994, when Maradona was 34 and at the end of his career. He went into coaching that year, before coming back for a short stint as a player with Boca Juniors. Certainly would've been interesting, but 30-year-old Klinsmann was a better choice. Could we have signed both? Having Klinsmann, Sheringham and Maradona in the same side certainly would've been interesting. We didn't do balance back then anyway, so why not go full Ossie?
I think Ossie would have been concerned that Maradona wouldn't have been a very good role model with our younger players, either in terms of his work ethic or his drugs habit.
If Maradona had not been in the middle of a PR sh*t storm due to his drug taking, would signing him have meant that Klinsmann would have not be signed ??
