Because we probably haven't paid anything like £10m for him. I'd say the £10m was made up of an initial down payment up front, maybe £2m, plus a back hander for his agent, and the rest dependent on appearances and goals scored, plus a lump sum IF we avoided relegation. I doubt it if any clubs pay £10m in full for a player upfront these days.

I wish him well wherever he goes, he's been magnificent for us, given his all for the cause, stuck his body on the line and stood up to the challenge when needed. A very good player who I'll be sad to see go.
