It's true, but "Southampton is a good team" doesn't hit the ear well, I don't think. I'm willing to forego grammar for the sake of what I deem to sound better!
Gotten is an old word which is not used anymore in Britain. It still exists in America since it arrived with the pilgrims.
I have to say I find some poster's almost obsessive reminders about spelling mistakes or grammar to be a little daunting at times. This is after all a football Forum and not a bloody English lesson.
I have always thought when you are on a forum such as this as long as the meaning is clear does it really matter.
Is it really necessary perhaps to embarrass some people because they have made a grammatical mistake or have not spelled something correctly?
I wasn't aware that this forum was only open to university professors!! Come on guys and gals this is a footy Forum and is open to all and not a guide to the open bloody university!

At least its sparked some form of debate Beddy which can only be a good thing.
It's actually quite worrying reading through some of these posts and how much people hate the bad use of grammar I wonder if this is why we have so many guests as well as members
