is that inside knowledge, Chris? I disagree, incidentally, on your assessment of the lad. He's had off days but has been getting through a mountain of work because of other shortcomings in the team.
That is a bizarre interpretation of 1) a genuine request as to how you know there's been no contact. The reports I've seen say there has been and that it has been formal. They may be nonsense but it's a fair enough question to put to you since you seem certain there has been none 2) a simple difference of opinion on Henderson's ability
he just disagrred on your view about jordan, you have to admit, he divides us more than most players.
whats the good of bringing on home a growen player and making him into an international then trying to buy some one with the money earned thats just putting us backward untill his replacement is performing just as well
My view of last season for Jordan is that he had a very good few months which lead to a premature call up to the full England squad The hype and pressure of performing usually out of position because of injuries in a struggling team in the second half of the season got to him and his performance level dipped However if Sunderland have any ambition to aspire to anything more than a mid to bottom half Premiership club we cannot develop potentially England quality players in our academy and then sell them on when one of the "top 5" decide we should. IMO Jordan should be nurtured and developed next season into the consistent top player we all know he can be on his day
Just ripped from SSN...... Skysports.com can confirm that Sunderland have rebuffed an approach from Liverpool for midfielder Jordan Henderson. Manchester United and Manchester City had both been keeping close tabs on the England international. But Liverpool have suddenly made a surprise move for the talented young midfielder, who can play out wide or in the middle. Kenny Dalglish is clearly looking to invest heavily this summer and Henderson has emerged as one of his top targets. It is understood the Anfield outfit's initial interest would have seen them willing to pay £13million, but Sunderland have rebuffed their advances. The Wearside outfit, though, may be willing to do business at a much bigger price - £20milllion plus - as they have their own midfield targets. Skysports.com understands one of those is Manchester United's Darron Gibson, and Steve Bruce is ready to approach his former boss Sir Alex Ferguson over his availability and also that of defender Wes Brown.
He isn't worth 20mill, or 15mill. I'd say around £8mill-£9mill if he finds good form. That money will be purely based on potential though, as he hasn't been too grand as of late. If Luka Modric cost £16.8mill, and Samir Nasri cost £12mill, and Wesley Sneijder cost £14mill, and Angel di Maria cost £23mill, then I don't know how the hell some people can think that Henderson is worth £20mill or anywhere near that. Btw have you guys noticed his wiki page:
