It's a bit of a long shot, but do we think, as a club, we could help save the blue few down the road? One idea i had, which may be a long shot is a mid season friendly between the two with proceeds going to them, although i'm not sure the profits would outweigh the cost of policing the event. Another idea i had, probably a more realistic one, is to have buckets gathering lose change and any donations towards PFC. Thoughts?

Yes, I think a close season match would be a way to go. Perhaps the match could be held at St Marys, so the policing costs could be handled by our club. It also might heal a rift or two, which in all honesty, has gone on far too long.

No one, not even Pompey fans, should put money into the present club. It's not as if a little money to tide them over would solve all their problems. Should save their money in case a new team is set up next season.
Sad, but true.I totally favour repairing rifts, but it is time to close the cheque book for this club. I lived in Chester for a time in the 70's (when Chester were pretty good!) and still have friends there, many very loyal to their local club. I watched as for years successive owners came and went and left them further and further in the mire. Since they folded, the fans have bought out the club and they are now two promotions away from being back in the football league. They get great support; they are solvent and they have been able to develop a strong community programme. Pompey fans could do the same and gain control of their club. Given the lack of assets at PFC I cannot see how any sane buyer is to be found, and they need another loony like a hole in the head.
Regretfully there is a strong faction of the Blue Phew that would not welcome our interference and no way would they show any gratitude if we helped them out.
They've had the taxpayers and charities subsidising them, why should the good people of Southampton do the same. There are other more deserving causes than the Skates.

Loan them Barnard. Not going to help the business side (other then having a player with no wages to pay), but would help them in their fight to put out 11 players and try to stay up, and help us by giving Barnard some game time and hopefully he could score a goal or two against our promotion rivals. Win Win
I fully agree, we shouldn't help them, unless it involves loaning them Aaron Martin, which in any case isn't really helping.

I think that I would be more inclined to help AFC Portsmouth, say by attending a fundraising game at St Marys, than doing anything to put off the day of reckoning for those corrupt individuals who are responsible for Pompey's current situation. Saints fans who see no difference between Pompey now and any AFC Portsmouth, owned by the fans and run on a shoestring in non-league football will not want to help them of course. There will also be many Pompey fans who wouldn't want our help.
