Mercedes have asked for a review of the decision not to penalise Red Bull's Max Verstappen for forcing Lewis Hamilton wide in the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. The incident on lap 48 of the race was "noted" by the stewards but no investigation was carried out. Mercedes have lodged a "right of review" after new evidence emerged that was not available at the time. This is believed to be on-board camera footage which officials did not have during the race but emerged on Tuesday. From the bbc. I think they should not bother .
I think what is done is done so no change to the results. If I were Merc I would want the rules to be clarified over giving space and pushing cars off the track. If it's allowed that's fine if not then everyone knows!
Yeah..it's all getting a bit tit-for-tat now.. I mean, ask for clarification of the rule maybe just to set the boundaries going forward, but Merc and RBR are both starting to look a bit silly in the whole thing. They're going to be moaning relentlessly for the last three races.
They are moaning and complaining at anything and everything but imagine how gutted they would be to lose out on something they thought was iffy but decided not to query! It could cost either team either of the championships! There is so much money at stake they can't let anything go unchallenged! It's same as the fastest lap point. It's could be the deciding factor so both teams will take risks to try and get it or deprive others of it. It's all getting very tense in the teams, neither wants to lose and will do everything to win. If we ignore the verbal mess it's making great racing!
Yeah, fair point. Just what with the whole Silverstone appeal, I'm over the post race challenges. That and we have both of them hinting at legality issues.... Just want to see whatever happens play out on track, not in an office.
I have now seen the onboard from verstappen on sky It's pretty obvious he doesn't take the lock off while "on track" He has in effect dived down the inside of the corner and washed out as expected. I fail to see that Mercedes are continuing to whine about. It's stupid racing but hamilton has dealt with it in track rather than get taken out per monza. Hamilton has done far worse in a merc. Anyway red bull should be submitting and engine complaint on mercedes shortly so I'm sure the same level of whinge and crying will continue. Anything bar settle it on track
Can't see Verstappen getting any more than a reprimand, I feel pressure from Liberty is at play. Unless they wait until after Quali in Qatar and give him a grid drop if it seems like a Red Bull walk over.
Does F1 have a penalty for vexatious litigation? It's going to need to introduce one soon to deal with Merc and RBR. Max should have got a penalty, but the stewards had all the information they needed to make a call. You'd also be solving injustice with injustice because Bottas would clearly never have got within 5 seconds had Max been told he was under investigation.
I can see red bull waiting til mercedes get all their bits to qatar and dropping a protest at their engines so they potentially cannot race. its all politics after all. remember 1999 when mclaren protested ferrari's barge boards and got them thrown out and then it all went to court. All points were given back and ferrari quietly changed thier parts. the official "admitted" he just didn't measure right lol Nobody wants this kind of whinge bagging to change a championship. We've already had penalties left and right applied to red bull and verstappen over monza and silverstone. yet the car is out of spec and merc are crying foul and blue murder and carrying on? lets get this sorted on track and see racing resolve the matter. bit of hard racing from both men is not unheard of.
I think your point that had the stewards given the penalty then verstappen would have raced bottas to keep that 5 seconds lead is well made and good reason why whinging after the fact should not be entertained. Clearly toto didn't whinge hard enough on the day.
What I do think is that , as I have said previously , Toto is no angel but he’s a better person imho than Horner . All I want as a fan of the sport is for the titles to be decided on the track , MITO is right I think as are others , all this tit for tat rubbish is in real danger of ruining a good title battle .
Aaah, okay. Thought I was losing it for a minute. Not really the same though there, as you can argue Hamilton has already won the right to the corner, and he at least stayed on the road and left Perez some road.
Unfortunately I am not a fan of Horner nor of Max, although I respect Max for his driving and daring. He overcooked the corner and gained an advantage, whether he braked too late of drove Lewis off deliberately. I still consider it was Lewis's corner and Max deserves a penalty..
