I'm not denying that. You are missing my point, after all these years in the Prem, in our defence we are relying on 2 ex Man U players whos careers are close to ending. Other than that we've got 2 loans. Ones shyte and the others hit and miss. 9 years in the Prem for fools sake and that's all we've got !!!
To be fair fella, they didn't play in a squad that cost 80m+ to assemble. It's not how **** we were and look at us now for me fella. It's about the outlay and the return. I'll not knock the McCarthy squad who were relegated on record low points. They cost nowt and were all heart. This is different. We're not lucky for hanging on to our top flight status having spent an absolute fortune mate. It's from years of accumulated bad spending and miss management. Would you thank your missus for wasting your money shopping? Where some items don't fit, some are over priced and low in quality and others never get worn? Then just be happy that you had that money in the first place to be in the position to squander it? Because that's what's happened with Sunderland. This doesn't feel like a treat mate.
But it has not been for the want of trying. Over those years we had a manager with potential (Keane) that was not fulfilled. The next was experienced in keeping teams up whilst building them with decent players for reasonable prices. The next highly experienced with a strong pedigree. The next with big ideas and coaching demands but lousy man management skills. This brings us back to the first one again - one with potential but it aint coming fast enough. Maybe we could be shown as how to/not to run a football club whilst staying within budget. Doesn't help supporters who crave for some success but the search for that success isn't even guaranteed with super funding. Right now the biggest charlatan in football is at Chelsea as the team he has assembled for mega-bucks is set up to defend and once the goals dry up he is lost.
I know it's frustrating but come on, is it Gus' fault that we've mis spent millions? How does 80m+ compare to the 14 teams in England that are better? How does our wage bill sit, I'd bet it's about the 14th highest in the country. Many teams in the Championship and below have been where we are now and capitulated.
It's funny that, I've been thinking how similar the ****e is now to what it was back then. Only difference is the insane amount of money that was spent back then to what's being spent now
They didn't give ideye the lickings of a dog. Wes in particular was defensively excellent, though his passing was **** as per! Just remembered the double nutmeg on about 75 mins. Class! Rev from a full six yards then JOS on Gards. Fist pumping the lot! Ha!
Swansea city were in league 1 when we got promoted into the Prem. They've now enjoyed European football, have a very good squad without spending much with a mediocre fanbase. And people wonder why we're pished off??? Stoke have done exactly the same.
