    Really late back to this thread but thought I'd reply anyway!

    We would definitely create a ton of chances playing this way but how many of Carroll's goals come from through balls or one-on-one chances? Those are the type of chances we'd (hopefully!!) be creating with the type of players Pardew is talking about getting in.

    Carroll is brilliant when the ball is above waist height but he doesn't have the speed or touch or awareness to play a fast paced, on-the-deck style of game. Just my opinion on him, and it's not saying he's not a good player 'cos he really is brilliant at his strengths.
