Loads of people were asking for specifically Swansea to be boycotted. You can't please everyone. Of course it'd be a bit more impactful if there was an empty stadium for a bigger game, but that's never going to happen is it. Because the day-trippers who want to see Yaya will be there whatever. If it was 10,000 for Swansea then yes it'd have little impact. The aim here is to make it a ridiculously small crowd even for an FA Cup 3rd round game. I think that's way more achievable. I'm surprised that after Wembley and the way the media so spectacularly failed to understand it, people still think boycotting a major game is a good idea.
People probably asked for it because they knew they wouldn't go anyway , and they can feel like they are doing something without doing anything .... Even if it a crowd of 2,000 it will just get reported in the media as usual disinterest in the FA cup , in fact it will get lost in all the reports from all the other grounds with **** crowds
The problem with Premier League games, is the fact that so many are boycotting all games already, so it's much harder to make an impact. In addition there are some who've bought the new cheap memberships just to go to the big games and they're going to ignore any boycott of Man City on Boxing Day. Anyone organising a boycott has to be confident it's going to be well supported and at least this one is likely to be.
It's a poor idea. The game would have been the lowest gate of the season anyhow, straight after Christmas, all must pay and neither club really want to put out a full strength team. It is virtually a reserve team fixture. The game will hardly get a mention on the telly or in the papers anyhow so a low crowd will not get any media attention at all because it will be expected. Personally I think people will use the boycott idea as an excuse because they wouldn't have gone anyhow. It will be like the demonstration outside the billboard last week and the other marches that have been organised, not worth a mention anywhere.
It would have been impossible to succeed with the Man Utd game as Man Utd 'fans' would have filled up the ground. It was a very 'safe' game to pick. Inevitably there will be a low crowd. HCST will therefore be able to claim success regardless. However, it could easily be argued that the low crowd is because people are skint or don't care about the FA cup 3rd round. It will take a very low ground to get any media coverage I think. I think people should make sure they make a donation if they are boycotting, even if not the full price of the ticket (but the more the better obviously, providing it's a proper charity). That way HCST can say x amount of people have donated so that shows how many boycotted rather than just couldn't be arsed.
I am boycotting the Man City Game even though I have a membership. I wont go the the swansea game either. Added.....the league cup s/f games can gtf as well.
Too many day tripper and Hull based Man Yoo fans for it to be a realistic success attempting to boycott that one
It depends if people get behind it and donate their ticket money to local charities instead, as is the aim.
And pigs might fly. If you think substantial numbers of people are going to hand over their football money to a charity just after Christmas you are deluded. Your hardcore committee members might. Nice idea but sorry, the wrong one.
I'd say the Man City game but the stadium will be filled with with a lot of people who have gone home for Christmas. So let's go with the Everton game live on Sky. The Swansea game nobody was going anyway.
I agree , any game apart from the Swansea one .. It is the one game Ehab would pick , he will be pissing himself thinking that's all he's got to contend with ..
My plan Newland Tiger is to support my team v Swansea so I will not be boycotting anything. Why ? Because I been there done it and worn the T-shirt out. When we were ****, and I mean **** with nothing in the Bank, nowt on the pitch and hardly anyone left on the terraces I along with a few other diehards who didn't **** off and throw the towel in, did all the protesting, pitch invasions, and everything else possible to rid this club of a rotten regime but we NEVER stopped attending games and supporting the team.
I'd prefer a huge protest in the stadium but apathy amongst so many City supporters is so rife at the moment the chants will not last more than a few minutes. So I'm willing to miss one home game this season for the greater cause.
We must have had thousands of supporters when we were ****? All the "I was there when we had 300 supporters" we must have had thousands of fans
