I'm sorry - where was the criticism? I was merely stating a fact. The reason the banner was displayed was to be provocative. It had the desired effect. The players were distracted briefly. Both sides in the "name change" debate were equally responsible. I'm in the "couldn't care less about the name change" majority but do get concerned when both sides in the debate affect my team.
You're deluding yourself if you seriously think the majority of Hull City fans don't care about the club having it's name changed.
I really don't get this 'silent majority'. Every poll carried out has had a majority against the name change. Obviously other then AA's bent one. Unless that is people who aren't bothered or want a name change don't have a phone, the Internet, use any sort of social media, buy the HDM or watch TV.
How about a banner showing Allams head with the words "Are you lost, love? What? No, no Hull City play here, not Hull Tigers. What? No dear we've never been called Hull Tigers? Has anyone see this chap's carer? Do you need some food love?" and underneath we could have a dementia clinic's contact details?
ditto to all that.i aren't a member either.but i do care about the clubs name.i wonder how many of you that don't object will change your minds when MR allam drops the hull part of the name.this is what he means by shortening the name. we will simply be the tigers.
Then I'm deluding myself because I don't think it's an important issue to the majority of fans. Let's agree to disagree.
The majority of fans don't care about the name of the club they support? Then the club is of so little importance to a lot of people it doesn't really matter if it is there or not. Would it matter at all what the name is to you? Kingston Kickers? Wake Wanderers? East Yorkshire Generators?
Yes, that would matter - but it's totally hypothetical. The only debate is between Hull City and Hull Tigers and I couldn't care less between the two - it will still be the same team I'm supporting on the Saturday (or Friday or Monday or whenever TV dictates!!)
It won't be the same. It will be a different name. Would you chant Hull Tigers or have other fans laughing their heads off as you chant a name that has no relation to the team on the pitch.
Amongst others, one of my favourite chants over the last 50 years has been "The Tigers" (clap clap clap). Do you really expect me to stop chanting this?
The Majority Do not care what the name is. How you leap to them not caring about the club shows how fickle you are. I've never chanted Hull City so that's hardly an issue. If other fans laughing at you is a concern, I'd suggest you're a little too sensitive to be going to football matches.
Weak. Really ****ing weak. The Conservative Party have 149,000 members, yet have enough support to run a country of 60,000,000. Paid up membership of an organisation quite obviously doesn't reflect it's total support. Every open vote on this issue proves that the majority are against a name change, claiming otherwise just makes you look ridiculous.
Minor correction of fact, but it has been a Coalition that's run the country because the vast majority did not vote for the Conservatives.
Poor comparison as non-members vote, and corporates have a massive influence, with the electorates view having minimal to nil. The bulk of people don't support which ever government is elected to represent them.
