On a serious note, my kids wouldn't give me that problem ... they abhor intolerance in all its' forms and I love them for that ...

 

I would also be uncomfortable with my children marrying people with HIV or full blown AIDS .

Cycling trips would be out as would a walk on the beach , driving etc etc may be limited depending on the severity of the disability

admittedly beaches are a ****ing nightmare.
i do actually understand your point and it is a fairly normal parental reaction re disability however you do imo seem to take the assumption of the effect of the specific impairment to the more severe of the spectrum.

 

My uncle is in a chair he has MS even going out for lunch takes huge planning getting him in the back of the purpose built car .

And if the tables are not the right height he is ****ed anyway as he can't get the chair under .


I don't wish to insult you or Joe or anyone else who have your own experiences.
I don't know you or your situations so don't assume I do or that i just don't get it.
Even going around London on the tube is probably a nightmare if the stations don't have a lift .

As already stated I accept that wanting my kids to have able bodied partners is slightly selfish but that's pretty much human survival.

 

Just like AB people disabled people , even with the same impairment , will have have a wide range of physical abilities sometimes dictated by the rehab they have received and yes some stuff can require a lot of planning but hey you get to see bands with a mate getting a free ticket

True story. Knew a lad who was dating a girl. No issue with either family. They decided to get married her parents got nasty as they didn't want her marrying him due to race/culture

Or to give an extreme example that was in the papers. Girl dating guy for a few years. Came home to say gonna get married. Father said no. It escalated and the father killed her
