The worrying thing for him is that Wigan did not play like a Martinez team. There was a lot of hoofing going on and they were clueless in front of goal. If they carry on like that they will go down.

aswan your so abstract on times, it's frightening!...............<laugh>

But that's a very good question that warrants debate in itself, I think there are a number of reasons why it didn't work out for Martinez at Wigan. Firstly not good working with family or friends, and Dave Whelen has stated many times that Roberto is part of the family? Secondly I think that Martinez really did start to believe his own hype, particularly during the time when he had a book written. Of course Martinez underestimated the quality of the Swansea players in his grand scheme of things, they were far more influential in the project of total football than he realised or gave credit for, until of course he went to Wigan to work with overpaid 'Prima donnas' and then I'm sure the penny dropped of what quality he had left behind. And finally Dave Whelen did himself no favours stating that Martinez job was so secure, that not even relegation would get him the sack, that was a big mistake in my view, because it took the edge off Martinez to pull his finger out, it's just human nature I suppose, but I'm sure that Martinez will come good one day, with a new team, and a fresh start, and no baggage to complicate matters................
