£450k is a good sell on fee for a 32 year old TBH. Any chance the Saints bought out your clause last season??

Lets use the money to find a new Lambert for today so we don't have to keep going on about a player who left five years ago :biggrin:

Never seen Lambert look so proud as in those pics. Must be great feeling for him to stick two fingers up to those at Liverpool in the past that said he was not good enough and released him.
Go for it Rickie you've deserved every ounce of success your now reaping. Always remember those few years you were central to the success of 2007 and that goal in the JPT area final! You will always be Gas and you'll never walk alone.

<applause>

and 2 fingers to anyone else who doubted him. on the old bbc606 forum a few of us said when he was still with us that he would make it in the prem if he was given a chance. some even said he would make it for england. again all this when we was still playing for us. he proved a few of us right and proved a lot of those to mocked us wrong.

this made me laugh <laugh> http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...urned-chance-sign-Rickie-Lambert-750-000.html

Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle passed up the opportunity to sign Rickie Lambert for just £750,000 in 2009 as his age "didn't represent good value for money".
The England international was a target for Huddersfield in 2008-09 before he joined Southampton from Bristol Rovers, which led to a £4million return to his boyhood club Liverpool this summer. Speaking to the Huddersfield Examiner on July 7, 2009, Hoyle said:
"A move for Rickie Lambert is a no-no. No disrespect to a very good player, but it’s a simple matter of economics. Any deal would cost a minimum of £750,000 plus add-ons for a player who is 27 and who would want a three-year contract. Even if he scored 30 goals a season for those three years, by the time the contract is at an end, the player would be 30, and therefore there would be little or no resale value. That means that even before meeting wage demands, the signing would cost £5,000 a week, and this club cannot do that kind of business. If Rickie Lambert was 22 or 23, it would be a different matter, but he’s not and suggestions that we will sign him are nonsense."

The Huddersfield chairman may regret those words!

Anyway being reported we will get £500,000 AFTER Rochdale have their 25% plus we will get 20% of all add on too. Seems a sweet deal and hindsight is a good thing but even Lennie Lawrence said at his age he wouldn't get any better it would be in the interests of the club to sell him and make a profit that could see Rovers net £1.2 Million plus add ons. How Lennie underestimated Lamberts stock and value.
