Adam would not start for me, his job is to pass and hold up play, neither of which he's done well. Most of his passes are misplaced, and he regularly takes the shot instead of passing to a better position. It always bar once goes yards wide. He's wasteful and sloppy in the holding role, I'm frightened every time he tries to tackle. This leads to an inability of ours to unlock the defence of a team. Granted his set plays are mint but I'd rather see Stevie back in that role, slightly further up the pitch.
We all used to say the same about Lucas now he is a starting 11 every time Each time Lucas used to go for a tackle i would close my eyes scared of what would happen next,but look at him now And the same will be with Adam he will get it, hope sooner then later
Because it happened with Lucas doesn't mean it will happen to everyone else. Lucas had to improve in that area because that was his adopted position and he was young and adjusting to a new league. Adam's role is completely different and I think he will become surplus to requirements next season because we will probably bring in another midfielder who is more likely to replace him over Henderson or Lucas.
I have concerns about Charlie Adam - about his tackling abilities, allied with this judgement. Not that he doesn't try, just he might be trying too hard. And he does sometimes go for difficult passes that simply aren't on in the wrong parts of the pitch, when a simpler ball is available...
i think personally adam has not got the right starting position sorted out so he's coming into challenges wrongly, he's getting passed around. this can be worked on.
Thing is, Lucas was a youngster and improving rapidly by being thrown in the deep end. Adam is at the age where you don't quite learn many new tricks. Hopefully he proves me wrong soon.
