sEEMS to me they were well aware their use would be coming to an end today. Or at least, their representative did.
They weren't aware their employment was coming to an end today. The letter was dated yesterday. Maybe you have some evidence that their representative knew and told them. Anything else is just an assumption.
I worked the turnstyles in the Duffen era, was a right good number £30 Pay and watch the game for free , turning up at 1.30pm , take the tickets in the booth chat to fans , the shift flew by , and you missed 5 mins of the game max cashing up / handing ticket stubs in , easy money , and free season pass
By using the word "seems" I've clearly assumed everything in my post based on the previous posts on this thread.
After watching us play QPR and Blackburn Rovers I can understand why some turnstile staff maybe worried about losing their free match pass. So you think that £15 an hour and a free pass means that staff shouldn't be treated with a bit of respect, given proper notice and redundancy pay if they'd worked for Hull City for years?
Are you really discussing £15/hour and a season ticket pass for a sedentary job amounting to circa. 50 hours/ year? What does Arkela get? The respect of better notice is an issue of some relevance, but I have yet to understand the role of this representative, does anyone?
An elected employee representative would be part of any collective consultation process which is a legal reqirement of the redundancy process. I posted some details earlier in the thread, yesterday morning, I was a little beer worn though so they may be a little jibberish. If they'd elected a rep they'd know who the rep was. It appears strange they didn't know. The details are sparse. Obi is reporting 75% of what he knows which is, in reality & at the very best, 50% of the full story.
No I'm talking about the football club I support respecting all its staff, not just those earning millions. If they've worked for decades (or even 2 years) they should be entitled to redundancy.
If they were viewed as casual workers then there is no legal requirement for a redundancy process. I don't know whether the rep was elected or selected but there was a rep. I asked who the rep was and was told they didn't know. I asked if anybody had told them yesterday was their last day and was told , no nobody had told them. So neither the rep nor the club told them until Saturday that they were finished from the Sunday. I trust the person who told me having known and worked with them for years.
Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere, but what we found funny was at the North Stand turnstiles for the Swansea cup game, some turnstiles had queues others didn't. We obviously headed for the ones with no queues, only to be met by a turnstile operator saying this is a cash only turnstile. I said I thought all that had been stopped and it was self scan tickets only. He said it was a last minute decision and as of up to 10 minutes before kick off no one had paid cash or been through the turnstile. Another great piece of decision making by the SMC/Allam farce partnership.
