I honestly never thought radio has exclusives Why can't two different stations broadcast it? And whenever i've listened to viking, it has more adverts than itv and sky sports combined
And likely to get worse as Ofcom allow the British commercial radio model to move more and more towards its US equivalent!
Agree about adverts, but its on DAB which is a massive bonus. Will wait and see what they call us before getting excited over that. Not sure why Burnsy is suddenly being rewritten as a victim due to his standing up to the club, and asking the difficult questions. Or why people think he'll suddenly start doing that either.
I'm not huge on RH's commentary, but their general coverage of football is great. Viking FM is ****e and has been for a long time. This isn't going to be good. Don't expect to hear the words 'Hull' and/or 'City' very often.
They'll bring in super serious commentating team and drain every ounce of fun out of listening. It will fit in perfectly with the owners remit.
No ****er, hardly, liked your coverage you fat ****er. The last straw was the, more chance of been relegated than promoted line. ****. Or the same callers every ****ing week. Or the text message read out regularly, they should try playing rugby league it's a mans game, how many times did that get trotted out?
I follow him on Twitter, not noticed anything even remotely challenging or critical of the club. The odd minor dig but nothing outright challenging or confrontational.
On the radio he's been saying it will be better for everyone, if the Allams **** off. I paraphrased, obviously.
Aye - Gibbons was a different breed of turd. People mention Partridge at a drop of a hat these days, but Gibbons ...for those that never heard him was like a cross between all of Madeley, Stapleton, Titchmarsh, Nick Owen with an extra heavy slice of utter bell-end thrown in. Total prick. Anyway, I went to the Luton FA Cup game you mention (class 2-1 away win as I recall) - what did he do in that game that stood out enough for you to single it out?
Happy, I don't think anybody is claiming Burnsy to be a victim. Though if the Allam's do have such an issue with anyone asking hard questions in terms of how they run the club, then surely even you have to start worrying? I would have thought you wouldn't want unquestioning slavish Fox News coverage or do you? The BBC will continue to cover sport as much as they can in this region, and then everyone can moan about it being Radio Rugby or Scunny or whatever. As I said, I hope I am wrong but ILR does not have a great track record when it comes to covering local sport in any sort of depth (and I have been there). You may hate Burnsy, and we can argue the toss about this presenter or that one, but they do more than you think with regards to local sport (and of course as a public service requirement). They do it on a very limited indeed increasingly tighter budget covering two professional sports and essentially five teams. As I said, we'll see...
He was muted when Ben Morley got the opener and then went absolutely mental when Luton equalised. He was slightly more excited when Bob Dewhurst got the winner but still nothing compared with the celebration that the Luton goal received. The incident got quite a bit of commentary in the fanzines at the time. It really was like he was deliberately trying to annoy City fans at this stage. I hold Dave Gibbins in nothing but contempt to this day for numerous crimes, but this is one that sticks in the mind.
