Jack Wilshere has not played a single second this season, and he is arguably our most talented midfielder. Sagna was out for nearly four months. His back-up was also out for ages. Gibbs and Santos, the same. So we did not even have full backs for parts of the season. Thomas Vermaelen had his spell out injured and now Mertersacker is out of the rest of the season. We have also had out injuries. So do not talk to an Arsenal fan about having injuries. Walcott was badly off form for a while. Gervinho went away for a month and bit to the ACON. We have had our problems this season. yet we have coped MUCH better then you have and we find ourselves 15 points ahead of you.

There is a reason. We are better, simple as that.

Liverpool fans can make excuses, but this is the THIRD YEAR RUNNING they find themselves in mid-table, maybe if this was a one off they could make excuses after excuses, but it isn't a one off, back in 2010 they ended 7th, in 2011 6th, and now they find themselves in 8th, we are seeing a consistent pattern here, that Liverpool are turning into a mid-table side.

I understand that, it's plain to see Arsenal had (have) injury problems. That doesn't discount the injury problems of other teams. Quite simply, the difference between the two sides is the health of one Robin Van Persie. The two sides may be pretty even but he has outshone anyone playing for Liverpool or indeed Arsenal this season. We haven't performed at all, he's been a virtuoso.

I don't support either team. My Combo would be exactly the same as this guy suggests <ok>

I don't think I've said anything but that we've been poor.

It's worth noting that the year before we finished 7th we finished 2nd, and Rafa had us above Arsenal consistently. What happened? Financial crises. We've lost Alonso, Mascherano, Arbeloa, Riera, Benayoun and Torres all because of the mess H&G made of our club. Now, we're actually buying players again to improve the side rather than balance the books (although the money has until now been largely misspent).

  7. I fear you may have a point there since several of our points would not have been if not for RvP. That said, there have been others in our side who have provided very useful assists without which RvP would not have been in a position to be as prolific. I think that despite our disastrous start we have come together better and that too has made the difference and fortunately the likes of Arteta (6), Walcott (7), Vermaelen (5) and others have also made the scoresheet. Thus far this season, 17 players from the squad have scored goals in the EPL and it is the scoring rate depite our leaky defence that has also brought in the points. Arsenal have scored 63 goals against 40 for Liverpool. That additional 57.5% scoring rate counts for a lot. No goals means no points.....

The worst decision (someone) ever made was to sell Alonso. Wow. Since then Liverpool have struggled immensely. He was the heartbeat of your side IMO.

  9. And on the matter of Alonso, I heard much talk that he was expected to come to us but for Arsene's dithering.

It happens... still nothing we can say about that now. I'm sure Arsene Wenger had his reasons. Alonso is a world class player.

Liverpool need a new manager and a new stadium to be a European force again.

    Definitely a new manager!

As much as I wish they would stay a mid-table team I think they will eventually improve. They need to bring in a new manager with a long term vision and give him the same unconditional support as King Kenny has enjoyed. Things can change quickly.

The whole Hicks and Gillett saga warped things though. All faith was lost in the management structures and control went to the crowd, which leads to an appointment like Kenny and £100m invested in rubbish. I don't think the new owners fully understood the lay of the land at Anfield. Of all the clubs to try and install a purely stats based approach to they couldn't have picked much worse than Liverpool (or maybe Newcastle) where sentiment and nostalgia reign supreme.

Let's look at what we've one since your last trophy. One FA cup, One CL trophy, One Carling Cup. If we're mid-table you're relegation fodder.I can't wait to hear your spiel now about how it's the competing that counts. Arsenal - Always the bride's made and never the bride <laugh>

that's all right. I can understand the stress of watching your team plunge out of contention. We know about that, too.
